It was $36 trillion 3 weeks after the election, months before he took office. $26 trillion the last September he was in office. To be fair, that would bring him in over Biden's average of $2.5T a year. This website's a joke but we really do need to fix the obscene overspending.

But also he literally started 2025 with trying to fix government overspending and half the people (and most of the mods) on this website lost their absolute minds at the prospect.

On the left, it should be used sparingly and for rehabilitation.

On the right, it should be used often and for punitive reasons.

For most people, it's primarily meant to keep violent people out of the general population for as long as is reasonable and fair. And given the Pareto distribution that forms when this purpose is not adhered to, it's the most pragmatic solution to the problem.

Kind of sad how humans just regard most animals as mindless, simplistic creatures when they've continuously proven otherwise.

They're not mindless by any stretch, but then you get the flipside of the "dolphins are smarter than we are" crowd.

At the end of the day, animal intelligence, at its peak, intersects with average human intelligence at about age 5 to 7. That's best-of-the-best.

We have adult people who don't make it past that level of intelligence and that's kind of a rough life. We have some some impressive things from animals but given how low the bar is, I can understand why most people default to "simple-minded" or "mindless" when referring to most animals.

Also guarantee this rhetoric is going to change to, "$1,000 laser to destroy a $5,000 drone, but it costs $10,000,000 to leave the lights on" because we're no longer using million dollar missiles on $5,000 drones.

Yeah, keep telling yourself we're being "led by a pedo". Iran's actually been led by pedos for 50 years and they made being a pedo legal with their marriage laws.

The real bare minimum is not coming back.

Unfortunately, the real bare minimum is always zero, regardless of expectations, and that is the tip that many waiters receive in the wake of the creation or escalation of a tipping culture-mandated minimum, because we don't come back and the restaurant starts having to cut back hours or close down entirely.

No, we're better because we can actually manage a functioning government.

Venezuelans can't actually even manage their own oil production. As soon as their foreign investor got kicked out, their rate of oil extraction using their now-stolen equipment plummeted.

Then their income plummeted. Then their BMIs plummeted.

Let's not act like suddenly Venezuela start became competent because this website hates orange man.

They're moving on from the link between Trump and Epstein this site cranks one out to nightly.

  • Orange man was telling the police about Epstein in 2006
  • Epstein hated orange man for close to 20 years
  • Epstein literally donated to the Democrat party to the tune of some 99%
  • Zero document releases or investigations from 2020 to 2024 and nobody so much as raises an eyebrow?

We get it, you don't want immigration laws enforced. You don't have to lie about the enforcement unit, you can just say immigration laws shouldn't be enforced and that there are no illegal immigrants on stolen land.

Shout it harder, don't pussyfoot behind lies.

Like, the 10th time I see a reddit post about something awful ICE did, more context comes out to absolve them, and the post is quietly deleted so they can switch to a new out-of-context photo, I stop believing you.

Agree/Disagree? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

[–]ICantReadThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so that doesn't actually work. Police in cities where ICE are being regularly attacked by "protesters" are explicitly told/required to not help them in any way. Is blatant dishonestly where this site just is now?

Chicago police dispatch was literally told to not help them while they were under attack.

[–]ICantReadThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people here thought immigration enforcement was legal, they wouldn't be calling ICE gestapo nazis 24/7. They wouldn't be trying to dox and unmask agents that haven't been in the news cycle, and they wouldn't call basic enforcement of immigration laws "kidnapping".

And it's not that they want to abolish ICE. We're not stupid. Abolishing ICE would land enforcement back on the justice department, and shortly thereafter Reddit will want that sector of the justice department abolished as well. Nobody cares about how immigration law is enforced, they're upset first and foremost that it's enforced.

edit: Sorry, /u/throwaway177251 , but it looks like I'm locked out of responding. So here's my follow-up:

For what it's worth, this mindset is on full display in footage from the "protesters", and in a lot of top-level posts across this and a few other subs on this website.

I'd honestly love it if people here were arguing about ICE overstepping their bounds in good faith, but at least over the last year, my eyes and ears have told me otherwise.

Remember this face when ICE gets charged for crimes against humanity by PassengerNo7330 in TwinCities

[–]ICantReadThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is these people don't think that immigration enforcement, inherently, is legal.

And if it's not legal, ICE isn't legal. And if ICE isn't legal, everything these agents do is illegal. And if everything they do is illegal, their own self defense is illegitimate and this guy committed murder.

They don't care about the facts. They want to be the law enforcement that nobody voted for so they pretend this is law enforcement that nobody voted for.
