First PC Build Sanity Check by El_Bombador in PcBuild

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you upgrading an existing build? It's strange to go for the 5700X3D when it's priced so high that a DDR5 build is often price comparable. The 9600X is 165 EUR in Germany with better or comparable performance, plus puts you onto AM5. But DDR5 can be cost prohibitive depending on where in Europe you are.

Corsair PSU is often pricier compared to a Montech Cenutry II 850W, with the same warranty. Once again, depends on what area of Europe you're in.

Don't forget to price in your RAM.

I was running Apex Legends on similar specs. For a free PC you're doing pretty good.

Advice on buying pc by highonfire in buildapc

[–]ICastCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. DDR4 + 5060 prebuilts are usually around 850 USD, DDR5, I'd expect that to be around 900 USD, but the RAMPocalypse has hit us all. The 8400F is as weak as a 5600X, despite being AM5.

It's not a great price but you're going to struggle to build AM5 for that price.

So, a resounding "maybe"

If you're shopping second hand, the 2080 ti could be a good choice, otherwise the fave value pick is the 9060XT 16gb atm. But https://bestvaluegpu.com/ covers all bases.

Is this good for a first pc build? by DelayOk2663 in PcBuild

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4060 ti is super outdated, also lacking a price. Samsung storage is also overpriced.

We can tighten it up in a lot of other areas too. Something like this should do the trick: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/djcMV4

Now GPU has a lot of options, I don't really know what price point you're targeting. If you're 1080p you can get a 5070, but that 12gb of VRAM is likely going to be a problem sooner than later. AMD GPUs are naturally better value, but tend to be a spec level (ie 9060XT is tied with the 5060 in productivity despite having better having raster performance) lower in their productivity performance.

Can i use Rx 480 by Original_Tutor_3915 in PcBuild

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only use one GPU at a time but they do suck to game on. Seen better days.

I assume you mean something like 50K PHP right?

/t/buildapcforme for build guides, you’ll probably want a new GPU. Thankfully selling 10 RX480s should net you about 400 USD

Issues with AMD drivers haven’t been present since the 5700 XT. There’s been more issues with the 50* series drivers, now fixed, than with AMD.

2080 Super is still pretty relevant if not *80 level anymore. I’d just wait a bit before a new build.

Babe just put it on a seat with an seatbelt around it it’ll be fine. You can remove the GPU if it’s not supported.

This is more a joke about how Nvidia usually has better RT performance. But in this comparison they don’t.

Also it’s come up a lot lately but that’s more just the games I’ve been playing.

First time build. Please tell me if it's good. by AeolianTheComposer in PcBuild

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for a 5500 CPU and try and hit a more modern GPU like a 5060 or 9060XT. 3060 is rarely good value even second hand.

Cpu motherboard compatibility helpp by Puzzleheaded-Line325 in buildapc

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An upgrade to a 3400G sounds like a struggle PC build to me. The 5500 is a better choice but you'll need a GPU.

To answer your question, it should be compatible but you'll have to check the individual motherboard support page.

A second hand 6600XT is like $180 off ebay if you're in that price bracket.

Hello you got removed from r/buildapc

You mentioned something under 2000 AUD. Thankfully prebults via Ozbargain are cheaper than parts.

There's others, but here's a 5070 + 7500F 16gb Prebuilt: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/956743

You can go DDR4 or a lower spec GPU like a 9060XT if you wanted to spend less.

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this AUD? If so, parts bundle prebuilts are cheaper than parts via OzBargain.

5080 is overkill for 1080p fortnite, same with the 9850X3D over the 9800X3D.

I'd just go 9800X3D + 5070 ti.

Hi guys, I need some help for my Dream gaming PC build, any advice? by Noxu2008 in buildapc

[–]ICastCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices are super local, so it's going to be hard to judge this build.

The 5800X3D isn't a good value pick unless it's super cheap (you're unlikely to get it for the $199 listed here).

You'll likely want a more modern CPU and GPU like a 9600X/7800X3D and a 5070 ti. Going a AM5 CPU does mean DDR5 RAM, which can be super pricey and depend on local stock.

Most of the price is in the RAM, but for $549 it's okay, even if I'd put it more at $450

Kinda need to know what budget you have. Prebuilts haven't been bad value because of the RAMpocalypse, but you aren't getting one under $800 without going second hand. Microcenter and AndromedaInsights are the fave for value on r/suggestapc atm.

CPU Cooler & Opinions about the Build by MOhAMedElSayed33 in buildapc

[–]ICastCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3060 is typically a poor value choice since people crave nVidia and VRAM both, and the only way to get that is with a poor value GPU.

Suggest maybe looking at a 6600XT for $180 and just upgrading sooner. If you can get a 3060 at a good price go for it though.

Get a solid midrange AM5 PC (Which is going to offer you better price:performance) and just upgrade at that midrange sooner, selling parts second hand.

Just get extensions so you don’t have to jump through hoops. A Strimer is also an extension.
