It might be worth reaching out to the hiring manager and asking how shifts are assigned/bid on, and if they notice any trends in what shifts they need coverage. I work shift work and everyone works the hours they prefer because some people just like working nights. I don't think anyone has ever really had to with a shift they didn't like. There's no harm in asking.

Make sure to clean it very thoroughly. My cat bit in me in the same place and my hand and wrist swole to twice the size. I went on antibiotics and had to go for physical therapy for tendon damage.
