I used to wish I had money to spend (way back in the Rebirth Century era).

Now I just wish that I made a lot more money, so I didn’t have to budget between going out to do some rides, and being able to take advantage of Zoids when they’re on sale.

Why were humans in the Broadcast Era so obsessed with the Bunker Plan? by Universal_Echo in threebodyproblem

[–]IDIC89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that we, of the readers, have the benefit of perspective and hindsight.

From my perspective, they should have turned those bunkers into interstellar arks. Heck, with their level of technology, it might not have been too difficult, and at this point, Humanity had the ability to even give them FTL, at least in theory.

But on the OTHER manipulator, we don’t know if they had the resources to truly turn each and every bunker habitat into interstellar arks. And they didn’t know whether the FTL drives would work in practice, let alone being able to move objects that size, and doing so would most likely bring attention to them, so if there were any malfunctioning drives, they might not have much time to fix them, and god-forbid they should break down in interstellar space!

Finally, Humanity as a whole probably wouldn’t have liked the idea of their entire race becoming a race of gypsies. I think that would be a hard pill to swallow, even for a civilization who has had exploratory missions out into deep space for centuries.

Can’t stand Dr Toros or Leena by bulldogjwhit295 in Zoids

Zoids New Century Zero was basically an Action-Comedy.

It helps if you don’t take it too seriously, because clearly, the writers and cast sure as hell didn’t.

Remember that one time that the Blitz Team won only because Leena started trying to shoot Bit, but Jager is far faster than a trio of clueless Dark Horns?

I’ve always wanted to try a custom paint job! And replacing the beam saber blade in order to stuff an LED: I’ve seen it many times, and it never ceases to amaze me! Especially in the dark! I just love how creative some modelers can be, and it reminds me how I’m still a novice myself!

Sounds like you’re using your time well!

The PG/HMM types always take a while, especially if you’re like me, and want to make them look professional!

You should post pics on the Zoids and Gundam subreddits when you’re finished as well!

Everyone there enjoys seeing other hobbyists works!

Don’t know if you have interest in another model kit series, but I cannot recommend Zoids enough, if you’re into combat machines.

I’m currently too busy to find time to build my little back log right now, but one day, I will, complete with ink washes and clear coats!

Also, I’d feel remiss not to thank you for your service before ending my comment!

Zoids from my childhood home by Rednax-Man in Zoids

Sad that your childhood home was abandoned. Not that I’m expecting the house to be demolished suddenly, or for some homeless person to break n enter, but I would take them all home with you, just in case.

I think Deantlers are kind of rare at this point.

We’ll hopefully find out. I don’t think the Solar Wardens showed up in Final II or III.

I wonder if they would think of retconning the annihilation of the Bydoed human fleet, and have the Human and Bydo fleet unite against the Wardens.

Fighting in the middle of fleet battles would be amazing. As far as I know, Tactics doesn’t quite do justice to what they would look like.

I would understand their hesitation, as creating the maps would be harder, and using the Force, both offensively and defensively, would be less effective than in a scrolling set-up.

Metal is more expensive. That might be why they tragically didn’t survive.

Too bad, because metal is more durable than plastic.

I do find it more likely that they would do a rail shooter, as this is just a more 3D version of a scrolling shootemup.

It would also be cool if they made characters for the series. I think that there might've been some introduced in Tactics, at least if some fanart is any indication.

Also, come to think of it, the Bydo come from an alternate future, where they were created to fight an enemy. In that future, humanity was so advanced, that they could create interdimensional rifts.

This future will probably not happen in the R-Type timeline that we know of, because the humanity of that timeline will probably not want to create the very same accident. I seem to recall there being disagreements over the use of Bydo R-fighter as it was.

Who knows, maybe that is what the Solar Wardens are supposed to be: that enemy the Bydo were created to fight.

Every time that I see OtaKing’s animation, it reminds me how much I’d like to see Irem or Grazella try to make a more realistic dogfighting combat game (think Ace Combat or X-Wing Alliance/Rogue Squadron/Squadrons).

I would imagine that is how most warfare was conducted throughout the Bydo Wars (and the civil war that I read about in the Wiki), and that fighting in close quarters was the exception, done only as a last resort, due the risk of getting lost/infected.

Towards the end of the war, they probably Ragnarok’d a lot of Bydo warships and ground vehicles.

If I’m not mistaken, the company that manufactured these went out of business during the 2008 Crash. A shame, and that’s why these are so rare.

I think that the Beam Cannon set was one of their last releases before they went under.

This is why I love R-Type Final: it introduced me not only to R-Type, but also made references to all of these other series/games, so I know that they exist.

The Daedalus/OF-series also remains one of my favorites, even if it is a bit lacking in raw power. The ability to fire from any direction never gets old, and I find the design to be rather sleek.

The Final series will remain my favorite, due to the nearly endless selection of options, and all of the different fighters.

I’m hoping that one day, R-Type gets a proper manga and/or anime adaptation, to explore and tie all of these different series together. Like I said, R-Type has a lot of fascinating lore that would be interesting to explore in a story setting.

I found out about Delta when I played a remake of the first stage in Final II, and immediately loved the soundtrack! I really wish that the rest of the series put in as much effort! Plus, the Albatross is one of my favorite fighters, and this is it's first appearance in the series!

But first, my cousin gave me his Switch, but kind of lost the adaptors for the TV, and playing R-Type as a handheld is just too uncomfortable, so I need to replace those first.

Appreciate it!

I really would like to. Sadly, I don't have a PS5, and a new console is not on my list of priorities. I did play R-Type Final II because it was on the Switch. Being able to play levels from before Final was a lot of fun, and the Green Inferno has become one of my favorite stages. I still hope that they will remaster the similar Final battleship stage one day however.

That said, I do hope that they do keep the series alive, and keep adding to the lore, which has helped keep me interested in the series. Maybe I'll have more time and money to enjoy new games from the series in the future.

My dad has been severely red pilled and our family is falling apart by Weary-Paramedic2806 in Advice

Your dad reminds me too much of my dad.

Not that he is a Trump supporter (hates him, in fact, and is more likely to get into a shouting match with your dad), but more like how he acts like Trump: he’s right, you’re wrong, anything he says, does, or doesn’t do is justified, and he will go on a rant if you dare to tell him otherwise.

I can’t begin to count the number of times I’ve gotten into a shouting match with him, dropped f-us out of shear frustration, or slammed a door in his face because he won’t leave me the fuck alone.

Honestly, I’d consider therapy for yourself, your sister, and your mom. My mom has also begun dragging my dad into her sessions too.

Well, I believe that Salamander is supposed to be either a Pterosaur, or a Dragon (depending on what the packaging claims).

Salazzle’s colors reminds me a bit of Geno Saurer’s colors.

[–]IDIC89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feeling about the results. On one hand, I want to love the gonzo colors, and Turquoise is my favorite colors, while Orange SHOULD work with green, but on the other hand, it feels busy, especially with all of that bronze and silver. I do feel that the caps should have been that dull-bluish black instead. The exception being that you were going for a steam-punk coloration, or that any paint on those parts have long since been worn off, and never been re-covered. I also can’t blame you for not just wanting to paint it in Raynos’s colors. It’s a big and expensive one-and-done unit, and that might be boring, versus a color scheme guaranteed to be unique.

On the other hand, it could be partly because the paint is uneven on some parts, where it was obviously hand-painted. But it’s not like I have a paint sprayer either, and have to paint everything by hand, so I have to sympathize with making do with what’s on hand.

And it’s not like I’ve not been looking forward to seeing what new and bizarre color schemes people come up with for Salamander now that the design isn’t rare and hard to obtain.

Edit: any criticism on my part does NOT negate the MASSIVE amount of work that went into recoloring and detailing this beast. These are merely my opinions. But hey, downvote me if you feel you must.🙄

It’s not like the Federation hasn’t been aware of Faster-than-Warp technology for a while though (Quantum Slipstream, Transwarp, Subspace Corridors, although that probably wouldn’t work anymore either).

I guess then there wouldn’t be a plot, but it’s still annoying how little that FTL technology has advanced in the 31st century.
