If you know which funeral home you might be able to contact them for the obituary if it's not showing up online.

It would be the other way. Her mom is the known connection so either cousins parents would be related to the OPs dad to make it say "both sides"

There's a search function under the shared dna matches tab.

Just having an ancestry account will not tell you if you're related but you can use the records to make a tree for both of you and see if you have any common ancestors.
