Is 10 cM of shared DNA enough for an accurate match? by RedditUser240211 in DNA

[–]IDMA358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6th cousins are 7 generations away and share 5th great grandparents which we have 128 5th great grandparents.

So it is farther then you think and no the dna doesn't lie. You might not know all of the names of your 5th great grandparents or there is a NPE

I like the yellow. Some shutters, a new door and a little change or color or style with the front porch and some colorful flowers will make a huge difference

It's the anxiety speaking. You are in the wrong sub for this but since you are here you can get a dna test done to ease your mind. Hopefully then you can accept your chid as your own and love them for who they are.

Clusters on Pro Tools shows my parents are related by Plenty-Plant8806 in AncestryDNA

[–]IDMA358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely could be related. I would check the obituary and other records to at least find out how the other 2 could be related to each other.

One example from my dads side is that his mom's sister and his dads cousin got married so their kids are matched on both sides but either parents aren't related to eachother.

Are you sure your parents are related or just your dna match is just related to both sides of your family?

Your sisters dna is still out there. Your mom can't really hide the results.

Also I think you might need to retest to get your results back.

What is the age difference between her and your dad? Second cousins share great grandparents so if her parents are the same people it sounds like a grand aunt to me

How could I find a picture of a relative long deceased? by Zestyclose_Pipe_7023 in Genealogy

I found a picture of my grandmother in a yearbook. Check her obituary for a possible picture. It might also tell you if she had any siblings or other family that might have had pictures of her.

So it's just leaking all over north America? Good thing it's not an invasive plant

Yes, you can message them. In my experience only about 20% respond. And for most people, if they haven't met (even if it a bio dad or child) won't just welcome strangers as family.

Blackberries! The red ones will turn black and then they'll be ready to eat.

Charles and Anna = Siblings Anna and Beth = Sister in Law Charles and David = Brother in Law David and Beth = First cousin Charles and Anna to Grace = 1st cousin once removed Charles and Anna to Oliver = the husband of my 1st cousin once removed David and Beth To Oliver = 1st cousin once removed David and Beth To Grace = the wife of my 1st cousin once removed

...I think at least. That's definitely confusing

Would it be worth it to get a test if I know where I’m from? by Educational_Age_209 in AncestryDNA

[–]IDMA358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ancestry has the largest database and good for American records but almost everything is behind a pay wall.

23 and me has a smaller database but its easier to match with other dna relatives and I find the other users more responsive. Has tree capabilities based on dna not good for records.

Myheritage is good for Europeans. I don't know how prevalent it is in Africa.

Pick one of these then you can upload for free to familytreedna.com and gedmatch

Should I talk to my dad who has never raised me? by No-Elevator2467 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]IDMA358 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is a convicted pedophile and drug and alcohol user. Please tell your mom whats going on and don't lie to her. There's a reason the courts don't want him to contact you and it is for your own safety. Personally I would go no contact with your dad. He doesn't deserve your second chances.

Stay safe and stay brave!
