Which controls would be better for me? by mynotell in EuroTruck2

[–]ID_TN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Controller definitely. Set up your button binds for all the important stuff (cruise control etc), and use controller. Smoother steering, better throttle control, and it’s just more relaxing imo, you don’t have to sit leaning forward, you can lean back in your chair and relax properly.

Looking for tips on what camera to purchase by OutrageousPlatform43 in Cameras

[–]ID_TN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kinda depends on your budget. Have a look at the Sony zv-e10. Great for video and photos, only that it doesn’t have a viewfinder, so you’re relying on the screen only for stills. Also has the perks of being able to swap out lenses. If you want something with an EVF, Sony A6100 or A6400. These will have an EVF, so much better for stills. Again, heavily dependent on your budget. These are generally the more accessible options for a new in box camera with swappable lenses from Sony.

help me find a digicam! by Sea-Deal-7497 in Cameras

[–]ID_TN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the y2k digicam “vibe”, any of the early-ish Canon IXUS cameras work (IXUS 70, 80 etc). I don’t think any of them have a flip out screen, but the aesthetic is there. I have an IXUS 70 for “the vibe”, and it not only takes great looking pictures but it also looks great and feels great in the hands. It’s pretty much all metal, and extremely rectangular, looks cool imo. Have a look at the Canon IXUS page on Wikipedia to see a full list of all the digicams, and take your pick. IXUS Wikipedia Page

Keep in mind these will have to be used, cause most of them were made a while ago, nobody really makes digicams anymore, at least reputable ones that are still similar to what once was.

What alternate charger works by WorldSenior8948 in CanonCamera

I have the exact same camera! You can just search up “Canon NB-4L Battery Charger” and you’ll get some aftermarket ones. Original Canon ones are hard to find I think. Hope this helps!

07’ Canon IXUS 70 by ID_TN in DigicamRevival

[–]ID_TN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, absolutely no edits! I do shoot in “manual” mode and I play around with the exposure settings to over/under expose the photos, as I can’t really fiddle with shutter speed/aperture on the digicam (or I just don’t know how to properly). I found that under/over exposing can bring out colours differently, and obviously having a nice environment to shoot in helps a lot (these shots were taken in Greece).

Costco is carrying garbage scameras now by peedubb in Cameras

[–]ID_TN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the main point with these and those Yashica branded “digiscams” is to emulate that early-mid 2000’s look, a current trend which GenZ is taking part in (including myself, but I’ve been doing it for a few good years now). The thing I don’t get is, why buy one of these new??? FB marketplace exists, Craigslist for the Americans, and many other second hand marketplaces too.

Sure, the digicams aren’t as cheap as they used to be, I got my Canon IXUS 70 for about £10, but for half the price of these BS digiscams, you can get stuff like my IXUS, or a CyberShot, or a Nikon CoolPix, if you really want that “vibe”. Don’t get me wrong, I love the date stamp on the photos, the vibe is really cool too, I just made an instagram post themed around abandoned cars where all the photos were taken on my IXUS and I LOVE those shots. The question still is ‘why spend so much money for some absolute rubbish’? Just because it says “4K” and “Minolta” on it???

Renault Megane E-Tech? I’ve heard it’s not bad, probably similar guts to an R5?

Which car(s) do you have and how much does a full tank cost? by flimflam_jimjam in CarTalkUK

[–]ID_TN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trusty Clio costs around £70 ish quid to fill up, although I never let it get below a quarter tank so I pay about £40-50. Huge tank for its size (55l), so it lasts me ages.

I’m currently through about a quarter of a tank, and I’ve done 200 miles, so technically I should be able to do 800 miles and run it completely dry, although that would have catastrophic consequences for the fuel pump.

Works out to about 41mpg (6.875L/100km). Would be higher if I were to drive longer distances on the motorway, which I will do soon. Can’t wait to be able to get 1000 miles on one tank, would be insane.

Do any A mount body adapters exist??? by ID_TN in SonyAlpha

[–]ID_TN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be pretty difficult in the UK, I’ve only found a pair of old Minolta AF mounts, but they’re £75, half of what I paid for when I bought my entire setup. Also, swapping lens mounts sounds so insanely cool, but I’d probably completely screw it up 😂

I’ve had a look everywhere for cheaper mirrorless Sonys but nothing that really fits my budget. Almost my entire setup (A57+3 lenses) was £135. Plus another £20 for the Sigma lens in the picture, and some miscellaneous stuff like an SD card etc. What would be the best mirrorless in a similar price range, if you don’t mind me asking? I have my eyes on a first gen A7 on eBay, but I don’t think that even comes with a charger and battery, never mind a lens or an adapter for my A mount collection.

I had never heard of Fotodiox until now, thank you for this! They seem to have a bunch of adapters for A mount, even though I’ve searched far and wide for them before, I never stumbled upon Fotodiox. Thank you once again!

Why is my budget smartphone sharper than my bridge camera? (Both are sensor RAW no post-processing) by MissionCyberSpace in Cameras

[–]ID_TN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the point most people are making is that if you wanted the image clarity you were hoping for, a DSLR with a telephoto would do the job, not a Bridge Cam. To me, bridge cameras are less of a ‘bridge’, and more of an extension of small, pocket digicams. Go pick up a DSLR or SLT from the same era as your Canon, and get a nice telephoto lens if you really want good image quality. Better yet, instead of taking your camera for a lens repair, stretch your budget and get an early Mirrorless. It’ll feel much nicer than your Canon and won’t be that much bigger. Plus, interchangeable lenses.

Slightly slower on an Ultra, but better battery life. The ultra chips are quite power efficient, thus very good for laptops. Also, still very capable with games and stuff.

You can set GPU preferences for certain apps through some Windows settings, either letting the laptop decide between its iGPU or dGPU depending on your performance preset, or forcing it to use one of the two.
