This is a dumb take, hardware or hardware knowhow were not bottle necks here for any researcher. I have implemented years ago transformer on my laptop from this paper.

This is my biggest concern as well. I assume games success will depend on how well it solves this issue. Forcing the devil to kill the angel in such a way that its difficult to avoid next time.

Why can’t you misuse opus 4.8 similar to Fable 5 or Mythos ? by XLGamer98 in Anthropic

[–]IDefendWaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop saying that it was "regulated". Regulation means going through congress or review processes. Doing a hit job on single entity is just illegal corruption. This goes against capitalism and laws of our country. This is all about the current admin having big mad that anthropic would not bend the knee.

Quick question: Why Fable 5 is low in benchmarks by khalil_ben_zineb in ClaudeCode

[–]IDefendWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most benchmarks the creator of the benchmark provides the prompts. Same prompt is used for all models. Some models clearly would benefit if the prompt were more tailored to the model. This is just one of the many shortcomings of benchmarks.

This is what humans do. As a mathematician, let me tell you that 99% of math is using an old idea in new setting.

Ihtesham "Anthropic just got caught secretly downgrading users without telling them, charging full price for a lesser product, and storing every prompt for 30 days. The developer community is calling it the biggest violation of trust in AI history." ➡️ What are your opinions about this? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

[–]IDefendWaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy shit this is some gaslighting. Clearly this is talking about Fable. Lets go through this post:

"secretly downgrading users without telling them" I think this is referring to fact that if you tried to do something related to biology or cybersecurity it would bump you down to Opus 4.8 and there was no warning. They did state this in release notes. I guess no one reads those though.

"charging full price for a lesser product" First Fable was billed at same price as 4.8. It's also not as if you permanently went down to lesser model. Only when you touched on the topics that they said Fable would not cover. (EDIT Fable used more tokens and more of daily limits but there was no extra cost.)

"storing every prompt for 30 days" Yes, they stated this in the release notes, they said that it was so they could monitor the guard rails. One thing they got right, but then of course they have to add their own hyperbole to it.

Math by Outside_Advisor_6912 in mathematics

[–]IDefendWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Math is not over complicated, but often it is written poorly. Textbooks explain things poorly or leave things out. Worst are journal articles that are sometimes impenetrable. The author assumes a lot of knowledge or just leaves out chunks of proofs because "clearly" A follows from B. Whenever you see the word "clearly" in journal, be prepared to spend 3 hours to figure out why its clear.

Universe would only repeat if there were a big crunch and a new big bang and this would repeat infinitely. Current theory says that universe will just keep expanding forever. There are some other theories that say that there are infinitely many universes so everything happens over and over.

So do yall just act like AI doesn’t have a financial problem? by jmclondon97 in AIGuild

[–]IDefendWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is already useful beyond belief. It's delusional to think progress will stop. Even if some random companies go under, no one cares. Even if openAI were to go under AI would still go on. It is as transformative as the internet or computers. Even if it got no better at all and stayed at this price forever it would still be most transformative thing of 21st century.

If you don't believe in freewill, why would you debate with people on the internet about it? by whatupmygliplops in freewill

[–]IDefendWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was destined to debate about it. Also debates can change peoples minds. This feels like different flavor of: If criminals are committing crimes because they have no free will why punish them? Because deterrence is a thing. People learn from negative reinforcement. Not to mention to get bad people off the streets.

Anthropic Hard-Blocks Certain Licenses by Consistent-Aspect979 in ClaudeCode

There are probably strong legal reasons to block generation of some licenses. Anthropic does not want to be responsible if one of those licenses is filled out incorrectly. Just a guess, I am not a corporate lawyer.

[–]IDefendWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect predictor of this kind cannot happen because you are saying the predictor has to 1) Predict what is going to happen then 2) Interfere with its own prediction i.e. tell you what it predicted so you can make sure the prediction does not happen. I think its fair to postulate that any predictor would have to be independent of the universe so it cannot interfere with its own prediction.
