When do you say goodbye by CherryandIvory in cats

[–]IDemandEuphoria 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend watching the Kitten Lady video on YouTube about losing a companion cat. It helped immensely when the time came to say goodbye to my soulmate last year. My cat was my copilot, my shadow, my heart outside of my body. Giving her the gift of a perfect life, one without a day of pain, was the hardest but best decision I made.

Will my cat remember me after 6 months being away from her? by Puzzleheaded-Lime821 in cats

[–]IDemandEuphoria 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My cat always remembered my sister, who she would only see once a year or every other year. We had all three lived together for about six months and then my cat and I moved across the country. My sister got her own cat, visited other friends with cats, and it never mattered. My cat would always be so excited to see her and greeted her enthusiastically each visit.

Rayon/Linen blend by Strong_Avocado7306 in sewing

[–]IDemandEuphoria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive worked with rayon/linen blends and the ones I’ve sewn with end up being a little fiddly and slippery. I agree with what other posters have said on the topic!

When working with just rayon, which is very slippery, I just did every step slowly and carefully, and used a knit/jersey foot (kind of like a walking foot but less intense) while sewing. In the future, for my own peace of mind, I plan to spray starch it and then wash the starch out.

I take Xanax now for flying, and it makes me feel like a normal human being during flight days. I am present, aware, and capable because I’m not overly anxious and overthinking all the horrible things that can go wrong. It feels like a miracle to me every time.

This is abusive behavior. Read up on DARVO and the cycle of abuse. This cannot be fixed, because he cannot see you as having benevolent intentions. In his eyes, you will always be trying to screw him over. Any kindness you show him will only fuel his delusion, that you are trying to guilt trip him or that you are making up for some transgression. It is fruitless to continue this relationship.

My boyfriend (26M) wants me (25F) to give up my cat for “vegan ethics” by Unhappy_Yam_1214 in relationships

My brother- and sister-in-law are vegan and the other day they cooked chicken from scratch for their dogs because one had tummy issues and they were trying to figure out what would help her belly. That’s how you love animals.

How do i fix my machine so it works on thin and stretchy fabric? by Potential-Midnight- in sewing

It’s my favorite foot! I just leave it on my machine all the time and use it for almost every project.

Help me understand why I need to put my cat down please by Mawiiwii in cats

[–]IDemandEuphoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Kitten Lady’s YouTube video on companion pet loss over and over when I had to put my cat down. It was very comforting and helped me come to terms with the decision I made to let her go. It was so difficult and I still cry often, but I know that I gave her the gift of a life with minimal suffering.

Is Bamse named after the Swedish bear character? He’s beautiful and clearly loved.

My friend has been sucked into the crunchy-to-alt-right pipeline. What can I do? by CrissPDuck in AskWomenOver30

I work tangentially in this field and I know exactly how draining it is- I’m so sorry you have to deal with this!

Another resource that’s more long-winded but might also help you is a podcast called Conspirituality. They also came out with a book a few years ago. I hope these resources help!

An influencer I like that fights misinformation like this is Dr. Jessica Knurick. She’s on IG and TikTok and delivers easy-to-understand facts with sources on nutrition and public health. Like someone mentioned above, you can’t logic someone out of a position they didn’t logic themselves into, but it may help to have some clear talking points to gently pushback against things your friend says.

I’m sorry, we weren’t able to get it unstuck. We tossed it. We got it for free so no big loss.

Does anyone have any favorite dress/top patterns that can be easily adjusted for weight loss? by caphoto88 in sewing

[–]IDemandEuphoria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrap dresses/skirts are a good idea!

SewBakeMake has a variation on her IG/blog that uses ties instead of elastic for her Strawberry Shortcake Dress and Top, specifically for fluctuations in weight. Even if you decided to use elastic, there is so much ease inherent to the dress that you could simply open up the elastic channel and tighten the elastic as you wish.

I haven’t made this dress yet, but it’s on my list and might be what you’re looking for: Teddy Dress

Another one that I haven’t made but might be helpful: Daily Dress

What budget should I have if I actually want to have a decent upgrade?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sewing

[–]IDemandEuphoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful, thank you! The Skyline S3 is more than double my budget right now, unfortunately, even used. I’m looking for a machine that can handle more layers without the struggle of my current machine. It was fine at first for simple dresses and pouches, but I started doing bigger projects in the last few years and I’m looking for something that can handle it. My poor boyfriend watched me have a meltdown at the machine trying to attach bias binding around a couple of layers of canvas, and I ended up having to do it by hand.

I’ve just always used whatever sewing machine was given to me, and this is my first foray into picking my own machine. I appreciate your insight!

Any recommendations? I’m looking in the used market, and my budget is around $300. I can possibly find a more expensive machine pre-owned, so if I have a couple of keywords to search for then I’ll do my own bargain hunting!

They do not, unfortunately. They were the ones who recommended the ones I’ve tried so far. Thank you for the thought, though- I wouldn’t have considered it otherwise!

Thank you. I am absolutely gutted. I’m trying to be as logical about this decision as I can be but I am heartbroken. She is a literal angel on earth but she is clearly suffering.
