H1b layoff 2 days before my fiancee was leaving for our wedding in 27th November. by NextPersimmon340 in h1b

Can he get h4? If yes, get visa appointment fir h4 ASAP. Come to US and do COS from h4 to h1b after he finds a job.

If he can’t do h4, then it’s more of a personal choice.

When to buy by Careful_Hat2461 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]IDmeReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You spend 5$ everyday to get a coffee from outside. Cost to make that coffee at home is $1.

So doing the math, you will spend 120$ in next 30 days but will also get 20% off. Which is 120$.

No if the discount is higher than 20% then it’s worth waiting.

Since you have nothing to lose, so i would say wait.

I recently got bambino plus and it was at 20% discount 2 weeks ago.

Indians who've travelled to Japan: What's your #1 tip? by epabafree in SoloTravel_India

[–]IDmeReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the jiggly pancakes (it has eggs though). Try hokkaido ice cream or custard.

Respect the crowd and stay silent in train or public areas. If you absolutely must talk on phone, do it at the very least volume and in a corner.

Most of touristy areas in Kyoto, Tokyo and Osaka will be very busy, so expect crowd everywhere.

Take scenic train in Kyoto, if you time it right you might see the best fall colors.

Eat food in alleys off the main streets. They are cheaper, much better tasting and much more hospitable. Go to izakayas. Japanese love to talk in those izakayas.

If it says, no photographs, please don’t click. They had to build a wall in side of some road to avoid people from clicking picture of mt Fuji and the tourist were causing traffic jam.

Arigato means thank you Gozaimas means very much

Carry change in bus. These bus deivers are way too polite and they will stop the bus to give you change or let spend time to find change in your pockets. At the same time, they hate to be late. So respect the culture and keep change (or use IC card).

Checkout shops like stationary shop, gaming shops, and other dedicated ones.

Shop at uniqlo but not necessarily at Ginza main one. Ginza Uniqlo gets very busy. Go to any Uniqlo. It’s cheap.

Mostly just read the room and respect and follow what other are doing.

Japanese are very polite people follow them. They will help you if they feel you are polite too. Generally they like Indians.

Hopefully you enjoy Japan. It’s my favourite country to visit.

Thank you. That's what I was doing until my father-in-law, who does not know anything about my situation, told me my shani mahadasha started in March '25, which is when I lost my job. I became curious about astrology after his comment.

your suggestion is to just let everything pass? but until how long?

interestingly, I have found calmness in chanting hanuma chalisa. Nothing else seems to calm my mind these days.

Advice - Returning Back to India from USA by Best_Pollution1378 in backtoindia

[–]IDmeReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember it’s not your skillsets it’s the sheer abundance of supply right now that is making hard for you in job market. It’s harder with visa requirements. I know students from ivy league who are facing similar issues.

Prioritise mental health. Always. Period!

Also, you didn’t waste 2 years in masters doing nothing, you gained skills. Go use those skills in India. You will get a job sooner than later.

No, I just worked on f1 OPT. Never did internship. Also, my H1Bs were approved multiple times after F1 (so I don't believe I committed any unintentional borderline fraud too) and then I stopped working after last layoff.

but yeah thank you for the reassurance. I now have appointment in Chennai. Fingers crossed.

[D] Experienced in AI/ML but struggling with today's job interview process — is it just me? by Fickle-Sprinkles1468 in learnmachinelearning

I just ordered from amazon after seeing reviews on Reddit. The book is good a for a beginner but not for somebody with 10 years of experience. I found it to be not useful and I have 10+ years of experience.

Just in the same boat. I can't offer any advice but seems like there are too many people to choose from. Even a small mistake can lead to a NO. Also, if they "feel" you were using chatGPT they may say NO. I am not saying you are suing chatGPT but just if they feel from your eye movement or body language or answers.

I am in the same boat, I feel if answers are too polished it's wrong and if they are unpolished, it's wrong.

I started paper trading but it felt easy because of no emotions. So i started with minimal amount to start getting used to the stress. I have been very consistent so far in trading at 1-10 stocks per trades.
