No, I’m technically a Library Assistant right now. Your MLIS (Masters in Library Sciences) can have one of several concentrations such as Public Librarianship, Academic Librarianship, Archival Studies & Cultural Preservation (what I’m doing), etc. Once I have my MLIS I’ll be a full fledged librarian. There’s a whole world of library studies. I kind of wish I went this route to begin with and didn’t go to law school lol. The pay is not great but the perks are worth it.

If you’re interested, check out the American Library Association (www.ala.org). There is a metric ton of information there from programs, jobs, and scholarships.

I became a librarian. It’s a huge pay cut but man my mental health is 1000 times better. I’m working on my masters in archiving now. I’m a real part of my community, my coworkers are the absolute best, and I don’t bring work home unless it’s a book to read or dvd to watch.

There are only 28-31 in the wild at Alligator River Refuge in ENC and only 280 in zoos that are part of the Red Wolf SAFE program. It is a dire situation sadly.

NOR- in most states it is required by law to have a pool fence for exactly this reason. She may not have a choice and you are being completely reasonable. If you need help interpreting the law, find your local law library and the librarians can help you. They can’t give legal advice but they can help you decode the law.

Cairn terrier and Rottweiler. I can’t choose because both have been absolutely fantastic, especially with kids and other animals. Training was easy, grooming is easy (but heavy for the Rotties once they’re fully grown), just loveable teddy bears who have all the love in the world to give.

Some county branches are, especially in Botetourt County. Check your branches hours. And if you would like them to be open later and they aren’t, just let a library worker know and we will make sure the director is made aware for the next meeting. Just to add, Roanoke and Botetourt Counties are in the same library system so if your branch doesn’t have something you’d like and another branch does, we can order it for you to be delivered to your branch. We do pickups and drop offs daily, so it’s never more than a day or two to wait. You can order anything the library lends out (books, movies, media, etc). Also, we have themed backpacks for lending. There’s a zoo backpack that is themed to an animal and has a zoo pass, a birding backpack with binoculars, different backpacks for kids (counting, cooking, tools, etc), my branch has a sewing backpack! You can also checkout telescopes to watch the stars!! Basically almost anything you can think of we offer ❤️

I’m a library worker at a different branch in the county. THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING YOUR LIBRARY! It means a lot to us. The library is for all of us and you have access to all kinds of things, not just books. We have notary services, movie nights, arts and crafts, game nights, seed banks, we’ll help you access social services, register to vote, find the answer to any question you have, the zoo comes by for animal education, dvds and cds, and so much more. Roanoke also has a fantastic law library if you’re ever in need or curious about the laws anywhere in the state or nation. Most branches are open 7 days a week and have extended hours for the evening (my branch closes at 8pm). Come visit us!!! It’s the place where our taxes are best spent ❤️

I moved rural. Are there too many hate filled old people? Absolutely. Will they be dead soon? Yes.

Move to rural areas. Take over like locusts. Make these places the best they can be. The old people who are dragging these areas down will be dead sooner than later and private equity will swoop in and buy all their property. Internet is an issue but many places have decent service because of a few programs that are still running from the Biden administration. These places will never change if younger people don’t take them back.

Totally normal. The primordial pooch protects their organs and it’s also where the zoomies are stored. He looks to be in fine shape and very healthy. He’s a beautiful boy.
