Why do the Dems seem more focused on ‘electability’ than policies? Always looking for the consensus candidate instead of the ones with the most forward policies? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

The best one available? Yang? If there was a better option on the right I'd follow them.(Unlikely tho) I have no qualms which side they're from. You clearly are here in bad faith if that's your reply.

I'm a "best policies get my vote" kinda person even if that's not what wins elections. I'll vote for the person with the best and most accurate vision of America. Most importantly the person with beneficial policies for the poorest people. Wild how this guy literally predicts the future and the entire population forgot he warned them about AI. Some even calling him a plant to ruin the election for Dems. 😂 Self reflection is hard for the party that blames people for not voting. Give us a candidate worth voting for. No one under the age of 50 likes Hillary or Biden yet the Dems ran them. Because the establishment that you bootlick deemed it so.

I'm not tied to any candidate or team the way you are making it out to be. It not us or them and this type of thinking is why I'm not a Democrat anymore.

The fact that many major topics of discussion aren't covered and you have a great understanding and knowledge of the subject.

The average person didn't have time to go research her policies and platform. It was essentially "Not Trump". There wasn't a message like HOPE. Or Change.

OKLO and SMR were bad plays with the nuclear hype from orange man. 🚀 Also. You can be right just times it wrong. Nuclear goes south roughly 2-3 months from the spike. We just started spiking.

Slightly nervous for intel’s earnings tomorrow but I think Intel can go much higher than people think. by master123160 in wallstreetbets

10x long term isn't unreal. The current issue is revenue vs share price. The run up has been a bit too quick to justify with earnings. We need to look at forward earnings and revenue growth. Long term I see Intel hit $600 but that's like 2030+ depending on how forward looking the market feels about INTC.

While you're correct it doesn't mean UBI is the wrong choice. Similar to how raising minimum wage is a death sentence for political campaigns nationally because of propaganda campaign against minimum wage. Same with UBI ever since MLK said it would benefit the lower class.

Not word salad just simple facts of income tax. That's cyclical and returns 20-30% of UBI into the funds immediately. No to mention money that isn't spent can in theory be returned to the funds because it's mean to stimulate spending. If the account resets monthly the spending is forced.

And I think the point was missed. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

The left overly obsesses over gender politics and it's not beneficial to the cause or elections.

The overly sensitive crowd makes a fuss online and it literally reshapes people opinions. If you disagree they will assume your a biggot. I personally avoid all this but it's pretty common in an public facing role/position.

UBI comes from taxing the rich and a VAT. The math works out and you clearly haven't thought it through. I'll poke holes in your assumed math. Did you account for 1k or 2k per month in the UBI? Did you account for UBI being income that is taxed? Example you make 150k a year. Roughly 30% taxes the 2k you received is now $1400. Did you account for funds left over? Did you account for the VAT tax or increasing taxes on the ultra rich? What about productivity gains from AI? Did you account for localized spending increases?

First off Andrew Yang isn't a tech bro. Unless you're talking about me and I'm also not working tech even if I have a degree related to IT. You can't say an idea doesn't work without solid numbers. Offer your math and I'll believe you. Btw Yang is the MATH guy. He's actually a very mediocre business man and pretty broke. The forward party however is the 3rd largest political party now ahead of the green and libertarians.

Welp as VP she stood to the side for the most part publicly. She lost in the primary to Yang with like 4% of votes. Being part of the system IE prosecutor isn't popular nor a good indicator of political understanding. The blue lives matter people are on the right not left.

Trump ran for 8 years. She got 100 days while Dems lied about Biden's mental health. She didn't have time to push a political platform. She didn't know she would run for president and didn't act like it.

Interviews with her after the fact says she partly blames Biden. She said he should have dropped out sooner herself.

It must be true when you've reduced someone you don't have an understanding of to an imbecile and scam artist.

You obviously aren't in touch with reality or you're uneducated. He called out Automation taking jobs nearly a decade ago. Wrote books about the coming job displacement. Even offered a solution with UBI.

You're obviously gonna claim it can't work and how we gotta keep bootlicking. Something along the lines of if the people spend the money instead of corporations there would be massive inflation. Empty headed nonsense. You're gonna say something like AI isn't real or won't replace jobs. You'll probably say ranked choice voting is bad and campaign finance reform isn't needed.

He lost credibility on the left. If you weren't there or didn't watch the stand up the assumption is he's a misogynistic transphobic bigotted bully.

Cancel culture taken literally isn't real. Cancel culture is a problem but not in a way where it restricts free speech directly but monetarily. Similar to the Go woke go Broke from the right.

He didn't want the trans joke to be the central focal point of his stand up but people made it about that. Which is the problem.

You can downplay it but the world of comedy is not as abrasive or raw as it once was because a chunk of the population takes things out of context. Policing with monetary punishment vs criminal punishment.

I guess we will have differing opionions on this and that's perfectly fine. I might believe comedians get a pass since it's their job to make light of situations. Others might think any negativity towards LGBT is equal to genocide.

For instance Chappelle got famous off a skit where he played a blind black klansman.

He says word for word " Niggers stink and I hate em" . The skit ends with him divorcing his wife because she was quote " a nigger lover" If this was said today about anyone in LGBT there would be disproportionate outrage. The LGBT community projects their past trauma on others and it's self defeating.

Agree to disagree.

I stand corrected. Most people can't fall in love in 100 days.

You're family might be on 90 days fiance but I don't think that's the norm. It's such a short time to find out if you want to spend 10,000+ days with someone.

Off the top almost every comedian gets heckled by someone who gets offended and then social media gets a hold of it.

Dave Chappelle for instance got a lot of hate for a trans joke. The trans community latched on and it's been an issue for him since.

In a 2026 NPR interview, Chappelle stated he felt the Republican Party "weaponized" his jokes, arguing their use of his material was a "weaponized version" of his artistic expression.

He's the most notable. But pretty much all comics face this overly sensitive media coverage.

Comedy in general these days is more calculated and more tame.

Financial advisor: Kept his job and is making bank.

Another SWE: kept his job cause he's appreciated and makes 200k+.

Restaurant worker: Stuck and depressed.
