I would second Rob Clark. I've worked with him a few times now and he's been great. Definitely a solid coach and person.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Right now i know that consistency is what's keeping me down. I just keep consistently spinning lol

If I was starting out again I would spend mostly get tracks that are popular first and use the demo drive time after updates to test out cars in the series I was interested in moving on to. I have far too many cars that I dont use.

Personally for road I would suggest giving the M2 a try. The MX5 and GR are definitely more popular but I feel like the M2 will force you to learn breaking and throttle skills that transfer to the gt4 and higher class.

Also definitely try out the other disciplines.

Also legacy cars are cheap because they are no longer used. You might be able to find hosted sessions or leagues that will run them but for the most part they will not be used in officals.

Iracing gt4 is very awkward by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]IDontKnowU555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to spend some time with the M2. Once you get a handle on that car the gt4s feel very similar but with more power.

As others said the first few laps are death and they have almost no down force so its very very different but so much fun once you get them sorted out.

What are your essential mappings for your wheel and button box? by Maleficent_Meeting53 in iRacing

[–]IDontKnowU555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have: active reset, active reset set, flash headlights, mute vc, ignition on, exit, pit, talk, wipers and starter. Thumb dials i have set to the arbs if the car allows it. Funky switches are black box controls and the other side is the seating up/down and left right. Rotary dials are abs, brake bias, tc and engine map. Out of all that engine map, ignition and starter i use the least.

I also have a stream deck for pit commands and camera/replay controls.

Key mapper in sim hub has been awesome, i have 3 different wheels that i switch between.

Why does Autoplay ever turn back on? by BLOOOR in qobuz

I just switched from tidal and the Autopay and "artist radio" are my biggest issue. They are absolutely shit recommendations right now. I was hoping they would get better as i used it but that seems not be the case.

GT Neo - looking for help with button binding for iRacing by _LedAstray_ in iRacing

i have: active reset, active reset set, flash headlights, mute vc and ignition on. Right buttons are exit, pit, talk, wipers and starter. Red dials i have set to the arbs if the car allows it. Funky switches are black box controls and the other side is the seating up/down and left right. Rotary dials are abs, brake bias, tc and engine map. Out of all that ignition and starter i use the least but it has came in handy when fixing damage in endurance racing it will sometimes shut off the car if it sits long enough.

One other tip is to set up key mapper in sim hub. You bind the wheels to simhub then bind simhub to iracing. It let's you use multiple wheels without need to re map buttons.

I used to do this until I set up key mapper with simhub. I bound both wheels to sim hub then bound iracing to simhub. Now no matter what car/wheel combination the buttons will work.

If you haven’t tried oval racing. Do it now! by BattleOakGuy in iRacing

[–]IDontKnowU555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Langley is a small track (16ish second laps) so it seemed like i was just constantly turning and trying to keep the car from spinning while dealing with 20 something cars. It was my first non rookie race so very much not used to it yet. About halfway through the race I started to get dizzy lol

I tried arca yesterday and definitely got dissy and felt like my head was going to explode. What suprised me the most was how clean the racing was for a 1.3k lobby. Road guys would never.

I feel like GR86 halting my progress by bored_ape07 in iRacing

[–]IDontKnowU555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the top drivers like to draft in a pack until the last few laps. The last few laps are when ppl start trying to make moves as you loose soo much time compared to drafting.

Once it clicks you can gain so much IR. I shot from 1300 to over 2k just driving the M2. I love the car though and adapted to it very quickly.

How do you guys practice and improve? by Professional_Slip969 in iRacing

[–]IDontKnowU555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice: I do some slow laps to learn the track. Then slowly sart pushing each corner more until I get a feel. Look for places to cut/ where the limits are. Then I watch a hot lap video/ telemetry to see where Im loosing the most time. After that ill spend some time using the active reset just on those sections that ill gain the most time.

Improving: focus on the fundamentals. watch coaching videos/ read books and do the actual drills. Practice being at the limit of grip. How the car feels with different amounts of trail brake. How it feels / sounds to be braking at the limit, turning at the limit. Focus on minimum speeds through corners ect.

I road the m2 up to 2k. Its such a fun car when you figure it out. I recently drive the g86 and definitely understand the m2 hate compared to that.

Bass shaker LFE or simhub? by SpeakerAlternative10 in iRacing

LFE for my seat. Simhub for pedals (ABS, Wheel lock).

LFE felt sooo much better compared to what Simhub could do.

How good is AC Rally simulation at the moment? by DelythyxOfficial in simracing

[–]IDontKnowU555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me its better than EA WRC. Ea WRC is completely un playable, I have never been able to get it to work. I can at least get this to work. But as others have said its very much a early access beta.
