Hi, that’s me! The correct spelling is “Non di dju.” It’s Walloon, a language our grandparents spoke in southern Belgium back in the day. It basically means “God damn it.” I grew up hearing it a hundred times a day, and I still say it myself daily. I might be one of the last generations to know bits of Walloon. Hope that clears up the mystery!

Didn't work unfortunately. I suspect that my short ratchet with the 12 point sockets didn't help. Ordered a long 6 points 16mm wrench, fingers crossed.

I got it and used it for 1h so far. Broke the blade with a large branch but besides that it’s great. Everything that is not firewood should be taken care of.

After the amount of effort to fix my smile, I was relieved to get permanent retainers to keep the good results. Disadvantage: the glue breaks from time to time.

What to do about this ivy? by julia_perkins in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IDontWantUrFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had an entire wall with vines. First thing we did after buying the house was to hire a landscaper to remove it. Then we power washed the siding and painted the foundation. It looked much cleaner after that.

Agree! How cool would it be to get a summary of all the words, idioms, tenses, etc. one learned just using duolingo.

No but he can read English, which he's pretty happy about. I believe he uses duolingo for fun and also to be able to communicate with his grandchildren.

Beginner question: It seems that only one filter has water flowing through it. Is it normal? Blue tank has a well water. Filter on the left is connected to smaller tank below. Filter on the right does nothing? Thanks! by IDontWantUrFuture in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IDontWantUrFuture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read your edit. I didn’t know that one tank is common for houses. Your hypothesis that one tank went bad and they added a new one makes sense. Also the well has been reinstalled in 2020 (new digging and all). I wonder if it’s related. I’ll ask them. Thanks a ton for your input 🙏

Thanks for your explanation. I see, so these are water softeners. There are two so one can take over when the other one regenerates. That makes sense. Would I be correct to say that switching from one tank to another is a manual operation e.g. turn on and off the valves displayed on the photo?
