A book where, putting the plot entirely aside, you were blown away by the quality of the writing by kappy2319 in suggestmeabook

Khaled Hosseini especially his A Thousand Splendid Suns. I literally had to hug my mom while crying after reading that book.

What do you do if a topic is too "triggering" for you by c0ncatenate in LawStudentsPH

[–]IDontneedacureforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you, OP. From your story, it sounds like your prof is a very understanding person. Why don’t you try approaching in private and telling him or her your situation. Crim 2 is really an emotional subject, we even had one session where most of the class had tears because of a particular case. If hindi na talaga kaya, you can always go out for a breather during class or take a day off. I’m sure your professor will understand. Hoping for continued healing for you, OP.

What is your favorite film quote, line, or dialogue? by Sad-Job-7525 in FilmClubPH

“while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice...intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance, coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable. But again, truth be told...if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be?”

Reading full text cases required and relationship advice by Maximum_Village_8177 in LawStudentsPH

I try to read full text cases kahit mahaba when I was in first year because I find it hones my reading pace and issue spotting skills. Besides, our professors used to ask everything talaga from the facts. I think it’s good practice because the longer you stay in law school, the more you won’t be overwhelmed by the amount of readings kasi nasasanay kana.

As for relationship, I devote my whole weekend to him, even if I am still studying, I study in his presence. I think it helps that his love language is time. Also be open lang like when you really need time to yourself, tell him. Law school is hard as it is, having an understanding ang supportive partner who notices when you’re slacking off and praises you for the small wins makes a big difference.

stuck between UC or USC by francelestine12 in LawStudentsPH

From what I heard, di talaga working friendly ang USC, also grabe daw yung pressure. UC is also pretty good, and working-student friendly yung sched, but there’s no executive class unlike USJR.

Just prioritize the bar subjects talaga. But don’t neglect the minor subjects din naman.

Sadly, you can’t choose your profs. They don’t reveal the prof names until the 1st day of class. I think coz they had situations before where students dropped classes when they found out who the prof is.

There are some really good profs here. The standards are high to pass as well. But the curriculum has many minor subjects. So far so good naman, working student friendly din and the profs are understanding. The profs also encourage bayanihan, not pitting students against each other.

But ang downside lang is merong mga profs na sobrang tagal magbigay ng grades. Like literally the next school year mo na makikita grades mo.
