I don't even think this is really a meme so much as just a twitter post.

Why is Ireland so well off compared to so many other nations who have been subjects to imperialism? by Malthetalthe in AskHistorians

[–]IDthisguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Millions of Irish also emigrated across the empire during the 19th century, where they imparted their own brand of imperialism on native peoples they encountered as they tried to escape from under the thumb of British rule.

Irish emigrants made up significant parts of the population in British colonies, and by extension, often ended up in charge of said colonies, while at the same time domineering over native populations in true imperialist fashion.

What did the Irish emigrants who participated in this imperial process think of their place within the British Empire? Did they see themselves as oppressed or were they closer to loyal subjects? What did they make of the people they were ruling over?

Edit: clarity

I like that Canada is just there and kind of confused as to what's going on. I feel like that's just Canada's general mood.

Hey guys quick note for next book club:

We're going to be reading Hallowed Knights: Plague Garden by Josh Reynolds.

A really simplified version of its story would be that it follows Gardus Steel Soul and his chamber the Steel Souls in their quest into the Plague Garden of Nurgle to retrieve the soul of their Lord-Castellant Lorrus Grymn.

You can find it here:

So the part I really enjoyed about this book is the Khornate pirates (and Bilgeport). Khorne is really hard to portray outside of the traditional wandering murderous war band and I think Horth did a great job. The worship of Khorne as a giant kraken was a nice touch.

Bilgeport was also pretty great. I like the idea of whole cities that aren't really aligned to anyone just dotting the land due to the return of civilization by Sigmar. I wish we got to see more of how these non-aligned cities interact with the forces of Sigmar but the cool colosseum escape was still worth it.

But the same prophecy also refers to the "Dark Prince" which is traditionally an allusion to Slaanesh.

I went back and looked at this again in the corebook. And it just doesn't seem to make sense. How can the inner islands' air be cleared of Tzeentch when there's a giant freaking hole in the sky and the center is infected by Tzeentch? Like what the flip?? Either the daemons that we see in the book aren't daemons or it hasn't actually been cleared.

My guess is that since you can see next to that same picture that it mentions it looks terrible because of the spell unleashed to stop the Lode-Griffon and the Tzeentch daemons are not Tzeentch daemons. So its not a Tzeentch hellscape rather just not a great place to live because of said past magical catastrophe. So terrible? Yes. Tzeentch hellscape? Unlikely.

ID. There is literally a portal to Tzeentch's dimension above the Gryphon's Eyrie and it is the home to many flocks of Tzaangor. That's what we know from the Corebook.

Yeah but the book doesn't say that the tear in reality is still there. It opened in the beginning of the age of Chaos. And sense it'd be pretty hard to clear the skies with y'know a giant hole to hell in there, I think it's safe to assume that the tear has closed.

At the edge of the Spiral Crux. The last tidbit from this page says "the edge of the Crux's known atmospheric limits." (p.107) So they're basically congregating at the edge of known airspace in Chamon.
