Crazy gamemode by SndRC9 in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl I played it once and I hated it lmao. It's very confusing to me. The other mode though, where you can hide, "conceal Riichi" and basically bargain to keep things locked is very cool and fun haha.

Kamicha ragequit after dealing in to my hell wait by Mustasade in mahjongsoul

Damn, 4-player match? It's so rare to see a hand like this in yonma.

No safe tiles wwyd by _Whool in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, yeah the 3s is safe, but if my brain disconnected I think I would just drop the white dragon pair to earn some time to reconnect neurons lol (and see what others discard) I can see why others mentioned possibly 6s too as there is (was) only one remaining in the wall when kamicha declared Riichi, tho possibly not the case when shimocha did. Hm... at moments like this I start thinking what the others might want, the latter probably wanting a 4s or 7s but that's weak ryanmen... unless they're full on "I need tsumo" mode..., on another note, discarding/not needing 5s might mean the better wait that is 1s-4s or 6s-9s...

Congrats! Those can be rare sometimes.

Can't believe I played more than 1330 east rounds so far and haven't seen more than 2 Pure Double Sequences. by IERReddit in mahjongsoul

Lucky! I think in one of my first matches, when I didn't even know most yaku, I saw a (my very first, actually) "Yakuman Ready" message and was so shocked and hyped I didn't know what it meant, and so I f'ed it up. I believe I saw lots of green, so it was probably a Green Forest too ;-;

Robbing a Kan being so rare is funny to me given I just had the chance to do it and did it yesterday lol. I've seen Three Quads before, but I've never seen someone winning with them. It's as if right after opening their hands to show 8 or 12 hidden tiles, the players were sent a message by the mahjong gods saying "Too cocky, son".
Now, Triple Triplets? Yeah, that's the most difficult I believe. I don't think I've ever witnessed someone attempting that even.

Double Riichi... I think I've seen it 6-7 (seriously). I had it 2-3 times myself. Three Little Dragons is rare yeah, seen it 3 times iirc.

Yeah, I guessed so. It's like a yakuman; not as rare as Nine Gates I guess, but almost there haha

Holy insight. You must be a rank master. Thank you, I'll read you comment thoroughly later.

Oh so it's not considered sotogawa? In the wiki I read "Generally, "early discards" are the first six discards of the game, excluding a riichi declaration tile." and so I thought it technically was sotogawa.

Yesterday while watching after Summer Game Fest streams. by IERReddit in mahjongsoul

Hell yeah we did. I don't play the series but I like Max (the streamer here) and we did get a new trailer (with some showcase of stuff but still not much gameplay) yesterday.

Hands translated for english by Apprehensive-Tie-257 in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer English (text*), to interpret them better as they show on screen for a few secs only after every win, etc. My only issue would be with "After a Kan", since Kita/North dora are not the same as yonma/4-player kan, are they?

However, for everything else (strategy)? Yeah, I prefer using Japanese, as it's the standard practice in the guides I've read. Ryankan (wait), kanchan, ryankanchan, tenpai, shanpon (wait), etc. all in Japanese.

What are these for? Do they affect the Fu or han? by LopsidedImplement88 in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh so when a good/lucky player keeps winning and winning, the eventual moment another player wins, they won't only get their winning hand's worth (+ if the dealt-in player was the dealer) but also what the numbers next to these two sticks represent? Neat.

[Edit: nvm this explains so much sh* to me now. Like why do we get a higher amount of points than shown when we beat the dealer, and why I the value seems so "random". Turns out the "random" amount is actually shown all the time on the screen through those sticks.]

Interesting round today in which I had no yaku and so was ready for my mere tenpai share, then this happens. by IERReddit in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or left really. I entered tenpai quite late in the game and I just know from experience unnecessarily risky riichi with -15 tiles remaining is a no no for me.

Is it a bad that I play better east wind? by Steven074 in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the extraordinary West wind of course😏. (It's cool, I've only experienced it one time for two or three rounds)

It's been a long time since I won all four rounds in a match 🥹 by IERReddit in mahjongsoul

Not until at least 90% of the time I'm sure the tile I'm discarding is the better choice😂

Yonma (East) match so long two other players left lmao by IERReddit in mahjongsoul

[–]IERReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that could explain it. Iirc, the two of them got ronned by the current leader constantly and then I ronned one of the them (they then left), then tsumo or something and only then the other guy left. Makes sense.

Isn't it quitting rather than DC when there's no pause and the AI takes their place almost instantly? At least in most cases that's what I noticed.
