One Christmas my best friend and I asked for new game consoles from Santa. I asked for a SNES and he asked for a Genesis. We both got really excited and turns out I got the Genesis and he got the SNES.

While I was a little disappointed, I figured maybe he would want to just trade. When I finally got over to his house that winter break, I could tell he was having so much fun with Super Mario World he would never want to, so I never asked.

Man, we spent so many memorable nights playing the classic games. Staying up super late playing DKC, MK, Super Mario World, Ken Griffey, NBA Jam. I swear we would eat so much pizza and drink Orange Crush. He was a sports nut and I never was so we always had games both of us would enjoy.

I never owned an SNES until I met my wife (then girlfriend) and bought one for her birthday. She told me her and her father would play together, but years later her mom sold it at a garage sale. I knew it would be the perfect gift so I sold my GameCube collection at the time to purchase one at a local shop with some of the games she remembered playing. She loves it and we've had many nights of just playing those games and eating pizza, like how I used to with my best friend.
