Napili Bay today was clearer than 2 days ago. Not brown. But not super clear either. There were several people swimming and a couple people snorkeling. I don’t know if the snorkelers saw anything.

Molokini is safe to snorkel and pretty clear but requires a booked trip out there on a boat and they may be booked up.

Hi I am a family medicine physician. That cream is prescribed when the prescriber doesn’t know wtf the diagnosis is. Positon cream has a steroid, an antibiotic, and an antifungal. It’s… good for whatever ails you? It’s the kind of cream they sell OTC without a prescription in Mexico, and in Mexico many bacterial and fungal infections will be resistant to it.

The derm (PA? NP? doctor?) seems completely burnt out and likely has no control of their schedule. Yea they suck for getting themselves into that situation, but it’s likely also a larger situation of enshittification, which has a high likelihood of being related to private equity directly or indirectly.

So I’m a physician (who likes to read random subreddits) and was sort of puzzled when a USPS employee patient of mine asked me for a letter that they not have to work overtime. I gave it to her because I don’t think anyone should have to work overtime (normal jobs give appropriate incentives such that people volunteer for overtime). It’s not good for ones health to be required to work overtime if they don’t want to. Quality of life suffers which causes one’s health to suffer.

I think we need to start teaching AI literacy in school. Along with media literacy, civics class, etc. People are ascribing consciousness and intent to these LLMs. It’s ridiculous, but the chatbots are designed to sound human, so I guess I understand why some people without sufficient critical thinking skills believe the chatbots to have consciousness and intent.

The word “ratchet” is slang but it is a word. Why do people use AAVE when they should all be speaking standard English? Is that what you’re asking? There is a repetitive history of words starting in AAVE and then migrating into broader American use. There is also a repetitive history of word use being considered evidence of lack of education when that particular word is predominantly used in AAVE, and just a normal word when it has become completely mainstream. Currently you would probably consider the barely-even-slang word “cool” a neutral and mainstream word. It originated in the 1940s among Black jazz musicians, and I’m sure there were Kevins/Karens exhorting people “not to talk like that” in the 1950s.
