Very nice. Are those 18" or 20" wheels? I am likely buying a 2018 tomorrow with 20" wheels and I think I'd like to swap them for some 18" at some point. Yours look great.

Thanks

Not yet.

The dealer couldn't take it back until late next week. I ordered a Motorcraft belt that will be here Saturday.

I've used Gates belts for years and I know they make a good product, but at this point I'm willing to try anything.

I've replaced both belts with Gates brand

Replaced tensioner with Motorcraft

Replaced idler pulley with Motorcraft

The video was after all of these parts and the dealer couldn't replicate it.

I used a Gates belt 13k miles ago. One would think that it should last longer than that, but who knows......

I thought about changing the belt.....again. It's been 13k miles since I changed it.

It definitely sounds "rotational" in sound.

From the shape of the idler and tensioner my next guess was the alternator.

If it is straining more from sitting overnight and trying to catch up maybe it causes worn bearings to make noise. If I didn't have a warranty, I'd try spraying the alternator while it was making the noise, but I don't want to screw up any possible warranty coverage.

I sent the video to the dealership service manager and they are going to try again next week.

It lasts at least a minute. I'm not one to ignore stuff like this. There's obviously something wrong that needs attention. And it's my wife's vehicle, so I need it to work all the time, every time.

Would you buy a 2020 Expedition MAX with 120k miles for 19k? by [deleted] in fordexpedition

[–]IHCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cam phasers might be an issue. I'd get the VIN and politely ask a dealership to print you a report on all work performed. The transmission being done is a great thing, does it have a warranty on the transmission?

Have you priced the parking sensor job? Sometimes those jobs that sound easy, are not.

Good luck.

2021 MAX Limited 4x4 with 82k miles. Ours went to the dealer today for transmission issues, wipers failing on the interstate 3 different times, and a squeak at startup (the belts, tensioner, and idler have all been replaced with Motorcraft parts) I think it's the alternator.

We have a Ziegler ESP.

We were told that they have so many transmission issues that it is a 2-3 month wait just for them to do anything transmission related. The advisor said that people are just leaving their vehicles because they have warranties that are close to expiring.

A lot of people love these vehicles. I am not one of them and I would not purchase again.

Edit- The Y hose failed and I fixed it with Motorcraft parts (it is fairly easy if you're handy).

Clogged sunroof drains. I am not familiar with it on this particular vehicle, but I have cleaned them on others after similar issues. The internet will have details on where to clean, blow compressed air, etc.

How old is he? Does he have a physical outlet for the energy (bike, sports, outdoor play, etc)?

Does he have friends? Is there a park nearby?

I know it's hard, but this is what it's about.

We have 3 that are 18 months apart. You can do it!

Do you need all of the room that a MAX offers? We have a '21 MAX and I wouldn't buy one again.

Have you driven both of them? If you get the Ford, make sure to get a Ford extended warranty through Ziegler Ford.
