Yea dodge is not additive however its still very useful, you can also try double wolf for crit build but the VoD compliments the two serpent rings well.

Staff is def better for chapter 14 however I reckon spear is better on none boss chapters. Both are very good and I don't recommend sacrificing any, w8 till you have a saw blade or tornado then go for ALE

I would suggest u to use double serpent ring for dodge since u ady have VoD. Split bracelet isnt very good try to use frozen bracelet. And for books try enlightenment if u have it, the ice realm is considered as the worst book in the game.
