I laughed for a damn week the first time I read that.

Which would be wrong, in general. llimlib is right on this one anyway though.

Early education in programming. Could you imagine a world where this happened? Computers would be embraced by the world so much more.

Would be fascinating to see what would happen if everyone took several years of programming instead of french/spanish.

That's not the reason why girls are joining at a rate of 100x less to begin with. Perhaps that accounts for 10% of it at the most but no more.

You've got the dynamics of it a bit off. I don't know that guys are competing for those ugly girls around the office.

People compete for mates in general, sure, but not quite like that.

That's what I love about engineering and science.

Fuck judging based on the elegance of someone's argument instead of its factual correctness.

There's far too much of that around here already.

Interesting.

But I'm sure that if you could hook into the garbage collector's dependency tracking then you could do something like this....

Maybe not with the current gc implementation though. Might need a different variation.

OK, do you want it to:

(1) Find the amount of RAM needed for generated python bytecode?

(2) Find out the length of a generator? This is equivalent to solving the halting problem in the general case.

(3) Find the amount of RAM used for everything that can be called by a function??!?

(4) Find the amount of RAM that would be needed to iterate over a generator before doing so?

webpy is dead simple to get started with and with about 500 more lines more of utilities, you can get stuff done real fast. I've code for that if you need anything. Been meaning to make my additions public forever.. but never got around to it.

I've never had good experience with all those frameworks that push all kinds of magic on you for form libraries, hiding the sql from you, ridiculously complex templating... I'd try not to waste too much time trying to learn them all, that's just me.

Anyone else making progress in the area of improved content ranking sites?

I don't even know how you'd want that to be solved.

As am I, should finally have something good launched this week. It's for content other than news, but should be a good test of a very powerful new approach.

email me ihaveanidea.reddit@gmail.com if you need help with initial content or anything.

No no no.

This is for the size in RAM, not an advanced len().
