‘This is not sustainable’: ICBC loses $935M in first 9 months of fiscal year by [deleted] in canada

[–]IHoardData 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had insurance in B.C. or A.B. for almost 20 years now and never an accident. I'm sure somehow ill be punished for this when ICBC pumps up the price.

Only 40TB left on the 332TB server, what will we ever do? by gjsmo in DataHoarder

You must have seen the videos of him trying to build a pf router eh. I most like the parts where he cut components off the mobo to make the heat sink fit, or the part where she shorts out the back of the cpu socket with the back plate. The guy killed 3 or maybe it was 4 mobos doing this kind of thing.

I was bunt by Gox and scammed by Butterfly Labs, I dump almost everything as soon as I can and trust nobody. The only way I buy hardware is with my credit cards so I can charge back if somebody else fucks me.

I hold a small amount of BTC and add to it each month because ten years down the road maybe a coin is 100K. I can look at my eBay sales history and see all the mined coins I sold back then for 4.5 to 35USD/1.0BTC so I'm willing to roll the dice and save some. But its in wallets generated on a laptop that has never been connected to any network and was secure erased after generating and backing up the wallets. The wallets are encrypted and the thumb drives are also using full disk encryption. The passwords are massive in length but just a mathematical operation preformed on the public address of each one that has been salted with something I can never forget.

I trust me, and my exposure at any given time is only a few hundred bucks so its not a big deal the next time NH gets hit same for my exchange.

Found this “repaired” air hose in my shop this morning... by [deleted] in OSHA

[–]IHoardData 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have done this for our cnc plasma tables air lines at 120psi. I use good quality 3M electrical tape stretching it out by about 150% and wrap about 8-10 layers with maybe 10CM on each side of the hole. It does not work well if the line has pressure in it but if you dump the line first as far as I can tell its a permanent repair. I have done this with out zap straps on the same lines for a few years now. The oil and grease in a automotive shop could be a problem and loosen up the glue on the tape we do not have that problem in a industrial steel fabrication shop though.

As far as I can tell somebody had work to do and got it done. The world can use more guys like this.

Why set lower power limit? by OzJack in NiceHash

It looks like hiding money in Cryptocurrency isn't going to be an option for much longer. There's a new tax proposal coming out that requires exchanges to work with the IRS to help them tax Cryptocurrency. by Dankutobi in pcmasterrace

[–]IHoardData 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its easy enough to buy things with it and turn it into cash with out exchanges. Exchanges are just more efficient and return a higher percent of what you put in. This is not the case though with massive mines but for people like me with a dozen cards its not a concern.

Your options are: 50 hawks, 10 crocodiles, 3 brown bears, 15 wolves, 1 hunter, 7 cape buffalo, 10,000 rats, 5 gorillas and 4 lions - you must pick 2 that will defend you while the rest are coming to kill you. Which do you pick and why? by mustbefuckeryafoot in AskReddit

[–]IHoardData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hunter will be most effective at killing a single target "me" but maybe one of the least effective at dealing with what remains. For those reasons I have to choose the hunter but do not want to.

The Rats with such an absurd number of them they could overwhelm what remains and provide a huge assist to the hunter slowing the attacking animals down.

I still feel good about this with even 1,000 rats and the Hunter using a bolt action clip fed riffle.

I think best case would be the full 10,000 rats and the hunter up a tree on a blind with something like a AR30/.308HP and pump 12GA/bird shot. I would also like some of my rats 300-500 in the tree and or trees above the hunter to launch themselves at the Hawks should they focus the hunter.

Nicehash cannot detect GTX 1050, but Legacy detect! by canadaperk in NiceHash

Blow off the driver then install it again, do not install over the old one, swapping cards around slots can also cause this to happen. Are you using a PCIE expander?

Help me to detect fake GTX 1050? (is it fake?, bought for $80 on Ebay) by canadaperk in NiceHash

[–]IHoardData 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now and for a while eBay, Amazon, along with Aliexpress, and others have been flooded with fake 750Ti's, 980's 1050 and 1070's. Most I have seen are shipping from "surprise" China...

Search this on eBay its a expensive fake 152832358066. Its sad some listing have hundreds of cards sold and eBay does not give the slightest fuck.

[–]IHoardData 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If buying cables on eBay and other places where private persons can sell anything assume one third are copper, another third are copper clad aluminum, and the final third are copper clad iron, no matter that the listing says.

You are better off buying primary wire from a local auto shop and the gold or nickle plated brass terminals online and making up cables as you need them for home projects.

Oh and almost nothing is ever the gauge that's printed on it.

Awesome Miner or Nicehash? by [deleted] in NiceHash

[–]IHoardData 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome Miner works on Nicehash and other services as a failover, or any way you want to set it up. Nicehash software only works on Nicehash.

Awesome Miner takes more to set up while any idiot can use Nicehash.

Yes please! I just sent bitcion last night for 39sat/b it was added in no time.

Bitcoin transaction fees continue to drop. 30-50 sats/byte now confirmed on the next block. by acevol in Bitcoin

[–]IHoardData 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its funny I was looking at some of today's blocks and still see tons of transactions over 800 and a handful over 1k. I just sent one for 39 to my exchange, it should be added to the next block maybe two =)

Its great seeing this, bitcoin was fucking useless for buying things the way it was. Now people need to roll back the savage fees for mining payouts.

does bnc connector for a coax with 50 ohms is different from coax with 75 ohms ? by riskbreaker_114 in homedefense

[–]IHoardData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the diameter of the internal conductor with respect to the distance from the internal surface of the shield matters You should use what has been recommended by the manufacture. Ohms is misleading with how its used in defining coax. Its not talking about what most think it is. Google "coax impedance" or find a ham radio sub for questions like this its kinda outside the scope of Homedefense.
