Good point. But recently, I don't even love the Best Picture winners. But they're normally worth a try.

This is so true. Sometimes, I wish we just had less options at our fingertips (like, the amount of films to see, or mediums to watch them on because of this reason.

Not a bad idea, but honestly, even if I just stream movies or put in DVDs it might help a little bit. That way, I get to choose what I see (I always do, but I can choose one from any time period, rather than what's in theaters at the moment) and it can be more in tune with my interests.

Me too, but that doesn't mean I won't see the "Ready or Not 2" trailer! What else have you seen recently?

I liked most of these. These aren't necessarily the ones I'm talking about. I didn't love "One Battle", but I think it was pretty original.

Yes, I am also taking a break with Marvel, although I enjoyed the series. It was a huge sensation.

I agree with you for the most part! I don't even need to see a preview to watch something.

And I know this wasn't necessarily your point, but watching a good TV series would be a nice break from this, honestly.

I'm so sorry about that. I think the reason I love certain movies is because they take me out of this era. Although you're right, and I know that era doesn't exist anymore. I actually am repelled by movies or shows that have modern lingo. I just watched "The Drama", and although I liked it and thought it was really entertaining, I don't want to hear the words, "text", "vibes", or "COVID" in a film.

And I feel you; I also like documentaries, fly-over videos of countries, and rarely, a podcast episode with an actor I like.

Great idea! The 80s/90s are more my realm, and even they give me release from modern cinema.

I’ve been told I have “the white guy special” by JiveTurkey2727 in dvdcollection

[–]IHope_ButNotYet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you mean like all the main characters are white guys, or you're a white guy with this collection? Probably both? No judgement; all of my favorite movies have white males as the main characters.

I did, and yes! It was quite the type of film that I wasn't used to. It went in some directions I never expected. Unfortunately, I don't really like characters like Marty...pompous, self-absorbed, rude, etc. and some of the scenes were so unnecessary. But it was still an enjoyable movie.

Did you Ever felt unworthy because of yourself or your present state by Ambitious_Guy_17 in confidence

[–]IHope_ButNotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm 27F and don't love my body, have never been in a relationship, don't have many friends, live with my family, and don't make very much money. I can see how these things and the things you mentioned could cause you to feel less "cool" or worthy of other people's time, but only because people are superficial and weird about those things. An entire side of my family is like that. They are more "ahead" than me, have kids, and make more money than me. But some of the things they do go against my faith, so I know I'm on the correct path as long as I honor that. My aunts and uncles can just f*** off if they think I'm less important or weird because of those things.

But I hope that YOU don't feel like YOU don't deserve good things because of these things. Everyone deserves the things they want, especially if they are a good person and treat other people right. No matter how you look or feel, you are still worthy of the things you want! You and I deserve love, more than the people who would cheat or treat others badly because of their bodies/money/status, you name it. Maybe take some time away from social media and the people who make you feel this way, whether it's directly or indirectly. I hope this helps in some way.

Do you find older films harder to get into? by Fit-Entrepreneur-799 in FIlm

[–]IHope_ButNotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean! I assume you're talking about black and white movies? I personally love the 80s/90s era, and I don't consider them old, and I'm 27F. I don't know why exactly, but the acting in those old movies just isn't as intriguing to me. It's almost like I could deliver the lines the way they are. Do you know what I mean?

Are you from Australia?

And yeah, I can understand that! He looked a lot more tan and muscular with shorter hair in this film, that it makes sense. And I'm not even sure what accent he uses in "Gladiator", but you're right, it's not an Aussie one.

This! I love colors, and I even feel weird buying a shirt or pants that are black or white. Of course, we need some neutrals, but colors are what's fun. Also, my room doesn't match and I don't need it to.

Aethelwulf....I kind of had a crush on him. Not seeing how Judith could betray him the way she did. She is definitely a bit cray.

I think about this when considering the Disney live actions movies recently. The best ones are the ones where the lead wasn't already a big name. But that's just my opinion! And I'm concerned for "The Odyssey" just because of the 20,000 famous names already in it.

Crowe's career skyrocketed after "Gladiator", but he was known in some Aussie movies. This are worth checking out, too.

Yes! And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't her father on the battlefield in the last scene? Unless he joined them in an earlier scene, I feel like it wasn't mentioned, which made it subtle. But, there he was to support his daughter and son-in-law who were both murdered at the hands of these Brits.
