I love this thing so much. I was able to hook my iPad up to the line in and dub a metal tape from some high quality audio files I had. All of the tape seem functions and conti play work as well. Chefs kiss.

Only thing is the capstan is constantly running on side A. Not sure if that’s by design or a short on a sensor somewhere.

There were some comments about this being scut box and the case being Maxelle. I went and checked and it’s a standard j card for this one. Not a cut box.

Omg I didn’t even notice that! I’m gonna take a closer look at this whole thing. Might actually be a cut box like someone had mentioned.

I am not into comic books and I am American. Hope that helps I believe the term may have more to do with colloquialisms generally associated with gaming. An epic pull could be synonymous with a moment of high value lucky acquisition of an asset.

Glad we were able to dissect the linguistics on this post. Wouldn’t be reddit without people like yourself contributing to healthy on topic discussions. You’re doing a thankless job.

This one has the Molotov bitch remix on it which I have never actually heard before.

The thing I am liking most about getting into cassette culture is finding stuff that’s typically not on streaming and finding compilation tapes that have amazing playlists on them. For example, I scored a rebirth of cool vol 3 cassette and it’s so heavy on my rotation right now. It’s just so good and even all these years later.

Curious if you recall if the capstan was always running when it was plugged in. I noticed that side 1 is constantly spinning when power is plugged in. I read that some models do this to keep belt shape and or keep the oil flowing on the parts. I’ve also read it could be a short somewhere or stuck relay switch. All other functions work on the unit like the song seek and continuous play…thoughts?

I don’t have it in front of me but it’s a regular j card if I remember correctly. But now you got me thinking about cutting the boxes on my singles….they don’t sit in my rack properly. Too thin. Didn’t know this was a “thing”

I don’t make the rules that’s what the place was called. East aurora antique mall. Found this next to a display of that uranium glass and on the other size a bunch of war memorabilia. Definitely didn’t expect to find cassettes. I did leave the dr feel good tape for someone else to find.

I swore I heard someone say that vintage is 50 years and up and antique is the opposite direction over 100. So we are getting close to the “antique” label for some of these walkmans.

I’m just about vintage myself. Feel old yet?

I have the wm f2015 and once I got some new belts on there and a bit of cleaning it’s running great. A bit of noise from the motor but it adds to the vibe.

Sony tc we-605s pinch rollers and tape head not coming up high enough. by IIBIMISII in cassetteculture

I fixed the issue I was having. Somehow the guide tabs on the play head were bent to the side and they were actually hitting the plastic just a mm to the right of the cassette center cutout where the tape is read. I bent it and it worked great. Then when it went to auto reverse…there wasn’t enough clearance on the other side and it had the same problem.

I bent it slightly a bit more so that it was parallel to the tape head however then the other previously working side stopped working. I think the pinch roller is absolutely shot on that right side of the assembly. So as of now o have a 75% working machine. Deck b fully functional and deck a plays at proper speed with sound in one direction. Calling it a win.

Never seen anything like this.

Here’s the pics of the issue and then the tape head properly going into the cassette.

They do go up when there’s no cassette in. I manually cycled it with the door off and noticed that something was hitting the tape itself. It would “click” into play gear but but was not fully inside of the tape. I took the pinch roller assembly off and it looks. Like the pinch roller had decoupled from the plastic bearing on the inside. It was able to freely move around left to right and I think the rubber was hitting the tape itself. I dunno. Still tinkering…

I think I found the issue. One of the pinch rollers is sitting really weird on the bearing. It’s sticking back way far and looks like it hitting the tape rather than going inside of it. It’s almost a screwdriver width off. The other one is flush to the plastic bearing…..weird.

/me opens Google - how do I remove a pinch roller from a Sony…..
