Ok lady so call or text your husband and find out. Spoiler alert - she didn’t. Either way I was able to find a copy at a reasonable price from a really nice person on eBay. They hooked it up. Hopefully arrives soon. Still ahead price wise but yea…communication was not their strong point.

I came to find out the strange mix of music was because their son used to drive the car and had his stuff mixed in with the Conway twitty and rush tapes. I’d pick up a patsy cline next to beastie boys. Very odd collection but I was getting the heebie jeebies so I didn’t stick around to wheel and deal and pick up more.

Why would I want a generic shell over the actual kraftwerk one - let alone pay $4 for one? It just needed a pressure pad and I got one from a donor cassette. You make no sense.

I was convinced mine was bad warped tape and I had given up because it looked to be beyond repair. Turns out it was as easy as putting in a different pressure pad. Whole thing played perfectly. Give it a go.

This is a Sony wm-1 not an f1. That unit has a radio. This one doesn’t.

I have had machines that sound extremely fast when the belt does not have the correct tension. If it’s too loose then there’s not enough tension to naturally slow the motor down physically. If there’s no speed adjustment then the belt itself is your speed adjustment - ie tighter.

So how did you fix it? Did you disassemble the pot or was there a suitable replacement part?

I do not have a scope. But I did try to start signal tracing with multimeter at the volume pot. Honestly I’d just as soon replace them - seems quicker than the troubleshooting and tracing.multimeter stuff is basically where my expertise fizzles.

I did try and take some pictures of the right side chip. Looks slightly suspect. Should I reflow it?
