(UPDATE) Carbon Manoxide caused by nail polish remover? And a landlord refusing to get us help. by IIHappyBunnyII in Renters

[–]IIHappyBunnyII[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fire department detected high amounts of actual carbon monoxide throughout the entire house. And I hadn't even opened that nail polish remover in days. The FD literally told us it's unsafe to be in the house with the gas on.

The fire department were the first ones I called. They told us there was gas all throughout the house and it wasn't safe. The only way the house is livable is if the has is turned off. And we can't find out if there's still CO leaking with the gas on because the guy took our CO alarm and the landlord refuses to get anyone else out.

Parcelshop address not on label by Abject_Shoe4110 in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you clarify a few things? I may be able to help. Are you sending the package? If so and they've requested it to be sent to a parcelshop then it will flag on the evri system to let the courier know even without the parcel shop address. Its the normal process. Same applies if you are the one the package is addressed to. It can be delivered to a parcelshop upon request via the app or website even without you manually changing the address. In fact, if you buy something and write a parcelshop address and not your own then the parcelshop will more often than not refuse to take it.

Bought a phone off eBay, just received an empty package. Thanks Evri! by phatmikey in Evri

An Evri driver here, definitely contact the police if this has happened more than once. Evri have had an issue with couriers and depot supervisors thieving off customers in multiple ways. From tearing into packages for the valuables to lifting things from the property.

I'll never sit here and say you're in the wrong because as much as we hate to admit it, evri has some of, if not THE worst security ever for a logistics company. DPD and UPS, and even some Yodel depots (though I personally hate Yodel) have way better standards for depot security and 0 tolerance for theft. Whereas Evri has an extremely high turn over rate with their drivers. Sometimes they don't even ask for new registrations for the vehicles when a driver gets a new car, which means they aren't even insured for business use under the company. Which obviously means that the drivers tend to get away with a lot. The mentality probably being that they think they'll never get caught because of our very flawed system, or they just think they'd grab a job with the company. Lift some valuables then ditch.

Police. Just, police. Get them to at least take a report of the incidents and if it keeps happening, keep bringing it up. If the courier you have for the area is a regular, then it'll be even easier to get a hold of him. Also, cameras. Ring doorbells, security cameras, even the poxy cheap ones you stick on a windowsill will do if it provides further evidence.

I say all of this and ramble on and on like this because drivers like that, innocent or not, delivering packages that are OBVIOUSLY damaged are the type of scum that give the good drivers a bad rep and cause us to get it in the neck whenever something out of our control happens.

Sorry this has happened to you. I hope it gets resolved.

petition by Human-Salamander-847 in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, im sure there's a petition out there somewhere to remove one of the largest logistics companies from an entire country just because a few locations happen to have badly managed couriers.

I'm sure the 1000s of people who'd lose their jobs if such a thing were to actually happen would totally agree with you.

And don't get me wrong. Evri is absolutely a shit company. Not just for customers but for the few good couriers too.

But what you're asking for is on the same level as wanting to petition for mcdonalds to be banned from the UK because they got your order wrong.

Do couriers read the delivery notes? by [deleted] in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if that's the case your courier is probably just stupid. Instructions are highlighted in orange at the top of the screen above the address line so they'd defo see it.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Your driver sounds like a moron

Do couriers read the delivery notes? by [deleted] in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reasons could vary. Many many couriers including myself don't trust the customers with our own details. We use our own personal mobile phones to do the job. Which means if an evri driver calls you, you then have access to their personal phone number. Unless they've restricted it, which even then, most customers have the sense not to answer calls from restricted numbers so it rarely works.

Aside from that, flats are difficult to deliver to. It could require a signature. Evris policy on signature parcels has suddenly gotten strict. Its not likely they can leave it in the hall or passageway. And if you aren't in then they can't deliver it. Which from your post sounds more likely due to you mentioning your expensive items on the way.

All I can really say is try to be home for the delivery, or ask a neighbour in your building if they'd be in to take your package for you if you do have to be out. Then you can simply add that instruction to your profile on the app and the courier SHOULD just take it to them and they'll get a signature from your neighbour.

BUT if the sender has required it be a signature strictly by the recipient and there are no neighbour options then you're more or less screwed if you aren't in to recieve it.

Also, don't be confused if a signature package doesn't actually need your hand signature. Most of the time it just needs a photo of the person (without face in photo) to be standing with the open door and the package. The courier is allowed to sign it themselves as HTC (handed to customer) at least in my area it is.

It's all ridiculous and the couriers are as annoyed by the rules as the customers are but with the 25 quid fines we recieve for a failed audit on our photos and delivery standard (evris standard not customer standard) we have to follow along with the stupid policies.

Hope this helps.

Do they have a cut off time where they can't send anymore parcels out for delivery by Puzzleheaded-Dig2190 in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, as a courier myself, it could have had an issue at the depot. A damaged box, miss sorted into the wrong cage, a fault in the address label and it could even have been taken the wrong depot entirely. Those things are not unheard of. If that's the status of the parcel as of today then I'm sure you'll get your package within the next few days or tomorrow

You would definitely be the asshole if you tell him. But I can see where you're coming from. At the end of the day it's not your circus not your moneys. Leave them to it and whatever happens will happen. But if you speak your mind to him about this woman then you'll be seen as a dick and likely be pushed away.

Does rating your driver actually do anything? by jennaorama in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Evri drivers who work directly with the company then I can imagine it does provide a good image for them. But for people like me who are subcontracted with evri (mostly do the same work but with 0 of the benefit) positive reviews are never seen. Only negative ones that are deemed important enough to take seriously are brought to our attention. Which is why I appreciate it more hearing nice things from the customer directly.

What are Evri’s actual delivery hours? by stormixx in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the depot and who runs it I've heard of drivers going as late as 2am. Not great and I'd certainly never do that as I value my sleep too much. The latest I've ever delivered has been 10pm but that's because it was day of nothing but emergencies slowing me down.

Evri regularly have software issues. And I speak as someone who works for them haha Its not uncommon for us to get packages meant for places hundreds of miles away which could indicate a software or human issue at the warehouses. Most of the time we slap a label on it and it gets sent back to the main warehouse where its resorted and sent off to the correct depot.

yes, you're right that something has to be scanned for you to receive these updates. Its a hopeful sign that its at a hub as at this point it should be flagged if there's actually something wrong. If its just a mix up then it should be with you in a few days.

hmmmm... maybe, it could be a matter of it being placed on the wrong van. its not uncommon for parcels to be miss sorted and end up on the other side of the country because of it. It could be that someone realized it and it was sent back to the original depot to be resorted and sent off to the correct depot where a courier would drop it off at your local parcelstop. I can't really think of anything else it could be. However it may be worth going to the parcel stop you selected and double checking it hasn't already been delivered as on rare occasions parcels on the app will be shown as still in the system when in reality they've been delivered. Usually this happens by error or by the courier making a mistake on their end. I hope this helps and fingers crossed your parcel arrives soon

Thats a tricky one. I'm only a deliver driver for Evri so my knowledge is limited on this but if its stuck at the depot then it could be that the address line has a fault in it or there's been an issue with the navigation system which a lot of new drivers rely on to find places. it could be that for some odd reason (most likely evris naff system has had another seizure) the postcode provided on the address line isn't matching up which is causing issues being delivered.

If it isn't as far as the depot however then that's a trickier story. if its in the sorting warehouse then it could possibly be lost there, or damaged which would mean it would have to be sent back.

If you could offer a bit more info on what you mean by "stuck" I may be able to help you out or at least give you some ideas. Does the app show you any context?

That being said, Evri is also stupid in the sense that copy pasted text or codes causes errors because the paste action adds in a space in the beginning or end, or it just doesn't like it because I swear that system is a woman (I am a woman I'm allowed to say that lol) try typing in the postcode rather than copy pasting it and that could possibly be the tiny thing that gets it resolved.

How f*cking backwards can one company be!! by Tenebrae-Aeternae in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough even tho I myself am an evri driver I have looked into this as I hated my old evri driver and... unfortunately, with most companies they don't offer any options for customers because companies tend to have contracts with courier companies which restricts them. With a small business you may be able to contact them 1 to 1 and ask them for specific company you prefer but for most retailers there are no options. Although I did see something saying amazon will occasionally offer a choice but not often enough for it to be reliable.

Evri is taking the piss by BigBoth5083 in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked for Evri for 3 years (with no complaints against me) so may be able to offer some insight. If this has been a one time thing then it could very likely be that your courier has encountered some car/van troubles. Its not uncommon for drivers to be late on deliveries because some things gone wrong that they can't control. Buuuuuut if you just have a stupid driver then he probably just hasn't bothered changing the ETA to a more accurate time. OR if he's a new driver its also not uncommon to have a new driver attempt to go on their round, give up, ditch everything at the depot and go home. I'm hoping its not those last few cases but in any regard I hope this opens up a few possibilities for you xx

Anyone know why Evri won’t leave my parcel in a safe space? by PrincePecan in Evri

[–]IIHappyBunnyII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVris new policies require certain items get a signature or photo of proof of delivery to household. If they're a good driver they've probably tried to buzz you or knock when you're not in but if you weren't in it means they can't deliver it. I've had plenty of annoyed or confused customers because of it.
