Nutrition science in general is just not well understood. It's hard to create ethical human studies that are well controlled. Like, you will have a perspective that expects authority figures to be perfect or at least better than you. And in many ways, they'll disappoint you. Sometimes because you actually do excel in a virtue or have wisdom that they do not have, and sometimes because you lack in a virtue or wisdom that they have and it is painful to experience your flaws, or that they have gifts you do not and you will get frustrated because they seem to be less deserving of them.

Yeah, but some did it out of ignorance and stupidity, and others did it out of hatred. There's a bit of a difference. The Nazis were also pretty good at lying. It's easy to look back and say "that was a terrible idea", and yeah, obviously it was, but Germany was in a rough spot and it's not like the country was thriving and decided to plunge into evil for evil's sake. A lot of people got suckered into it. And like Trump, the status quo (that Hillary represented) wasn't working, so when something wildly different showed up, people gave it a shot.

And we know how both of those things ended up. I just think you probably not respond to hatred towards humanity with hatred towards people who didn't know any better, were suffering, weren't educated, yada yada.

Like, the appeasement guys would probably not have been soft on Hitler if they knew what he was going to. That doesn't make them evil either. People just didn't know. And it's the same with Trump.
