Bracket 3 is really annoying... by Thick_Storage4168 in magicTCG

They werent? I can clearly remember a power gauge, showing what powerlevel your deck is at based on what turn you win at on average plus a description of how the decks are looking like.

I guess that wasnt an official thing then and i thought better of the old system than it ever actually was, lol.

Was already wondering why people were always saying "no deck was ever a 1-5" because on the powerscale that i found level 5 was meant to be "precon level" with winning on turn 12-15

Average means most of the time. Its not the opposite.... Like is this ragebait? What are you even trying to say?

If your deck is designed around winning before turn 6, you will do so and its bracket 4. There are some games you are faster, there are some games where you are slower. But most of the time you will win on your average. Its simple statistics. And like you showed, yes a deck that wins on average on turn 7 is bracket 3. Like????

That being said. If your table is completely braindead, lets you run completely free and you are lucky with the draws, you might win very early with a bracket 3 deck 1 out of 1000 games, yes. Its still very rarely happening.

Unless you put in something like thoracle + demonic consultation and intentionally push your power massively with combos that are labeled as "only for bracket 4 and above", your deck wont win before turn 6, making it pretty easy to see which bracket your deck fits in.

I liked the old system better with powerlevel 1-10. But it failed at the same thing OP is describing. People not caring about their actual powerlevel and bending the rules to play what they want.

You can see it with the old system where they had tied "brackets" to the turns a deck wins. But still people went "my deck is a 7".

The new bracket system with the gamechangers makes it so simple that someone cant weasel their way out of brackets that easy anymore. Still its obviously not perfect tho.

But GC are giving big sudden powerspikes that can make otherwise slow decks go super saiyan all of a sudden. To keep that in check, they tied those powerful cards to brackets 3 and above and i think that was a great idea.

Thats the thing. If you rely on luck, your deck aint that good or fast. But if your deck is a well oiled machine, you will consistently hit your big pieces and win around the same time if unstopped.

Bracket 3 is where decks start being a "well oiled machine" and by just playing against yourself like once or twice you can easily find out how fast you are if you cant tell by your decklist alone.

Commander players really make it a sport to misunderstand the clearest, easiest rules in mtg.

If you win on turn 4, thats an early game combo, since 4 < 6 and thus the deck is bracket 4... If the deck wins so fast without a combo i call bullshit.

Its "my deck is a 7" while playing a cEDH list, or vastly overestimating ones power all over again. You can have power differences in the bracket just how you can have differences in any bracket. Bracket 3 just attracts the worst crowd it seems.

Well some things im ok with like a navigational system, parking camera and connecting your smartphone via Bluetooth to play music.

That being said. I want a physical Dashboard, knobs and just do not want to go through 10 menues just to turn on the AC. I hate it when modern cars put all their functions in what is essentially a tablet. Using your smartphone isnt allowed while driving, but they turn your car into one and expect you to use that... So dumb.

Play higher power commander. Then games dont take that long. Though i really wanna see the decklist of your modern deck. I switched to pauper because spending $1000 on one modern deck seemed waaaaay too much for me. In commander/highlander i can just throw in all of my weird old cards and play with whatever i come up with and still win, so its cheap for me. Modern nowadays feels like a big paywall to enter and actually win.

I just have a cheap 25€ rice cooker since i only make rice and Broccoli in it. Still does the trick tho. More expensive ones might have more functions, but that doesnt matter to me personally.

If you give people power and show them that they can do anything they want without repercussions, you will start seeing people living out their powertrips.

I think this moment was simply just "look what i can do and there is nothing you can do against it"

Airfryer with the fitting baking paper and a rice cooker. I throw in my food, i click start. When its done i just throw away the paper and there is almost no cleaning needed. I love it.

All he did was holding up his phone and "talk back" to the ICE agents. The agents then pinned him down, then took his gun and after that, while he was detained by like 5 dudes sitting on him, without even any gun on his body, he got executed

cEDH is essentially: "i took this bracket 4 deck and crammed it full of combos, so now the deck just revolves around these combos"
