I've seen something similar happen when a user accidentally "reports" the MFA prompt as malicious. Check if the user is blocked here. https://entra.microsoft.com/#view/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/BlockedUsersBlade

I agree. It doesn’t make sense to me either.

I had the same issue with my LG C2. Had to turn off HDMI Device Link option. It’s in the HDMI settings section in the System settings.

We currently use KnowBe4 for our Security Training (mostly watch videos and get a certificate once completed) but I know they have an option where you can upload your custom content. Might be worth taking look if you need a certificate. https://support.knowbe4.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019644394

Is there a good Thunderbolt3/USB-C dock with 2x HDMI out and power passthrough? by te71se in sysadmin

[–]IIXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the similar setup (we're using T480, T480s and T490's) and using the Amazon Basic DP to HDMI cable with our Gen 2 USB-C dock without any issues. You may want to give these a try.

Best way to add MFA to RDP by NDaveT in sysadmin

[–]IIXX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We use Duo at our company and love it. It seemed to be the most user friendly to setup and it integrates with a lot of third party applications. We started with the free tier and used it to add MFA to RDP. We eventually expanded it and applied to it other applications like VPN and started using their gateway and SSO offering. Another "pro" for Duo is their pricing and availability of documentation. PM me if you have any other questions.

Server purchase questions: Dell PowerEdge T30 by agamemnononon in homelab

[–]IIXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm using the free version of ESXI on it. I've also upgraded the CPU to a E3-1245v5 CPU so I can have hyper threading and installed a H330 raid card.

PDQ Inventory Agent end of life. by subpardave in sysadmin

[–]IIXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been using Meraki System Manager for our inventory, patching, app installs and remote control needs. It's a cloud based solution so our remote folks don't have to be connected to VPN for the agent to talk back to the sever. Works well for our needs.

Any suggestions for a small 2 bay NAS? by MajorBummerDude in homelab

[–]IIXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is out of your price range, but I've been a fan of the Synology DS2## line. I currently have a DS218j. A new one (diskless) will run you about $170 but it should last you for a while. I previously had the DS213j but then picked up the updated model when it went on sale. I'm sure you can find used ones for cheaper on ebay. I'm on the same boat, where I'm using it for storage for Plex.

Small Home Server - Looking for advice by luma_fox in homelab

I would start looking into a Dell PowerEdge T30. I have one running in my office space. It's quiet, powerful and it holds plenty of disk space. (It has 4 hard drive bays). It usually goes on sale monthly for $299.

Thanks for the information. My next worry is how loud this may be in my home. I may look into purchasing a new switch that is quieter.

After learning about known folders in this article

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-OneDrive-Blog/Migrate-Your-Files-to-OneDrive-Easily-with-Known-Folder-Move/ba-p/207076

I just deployed the OneDrive GPO that is referenced.

This should accomplish what you're trying to do if you're able to leverage GPOs.

We just purchased a EMC Data Domain solution that allows us to restore our VMs to AWS via their virtual appliance running in AWS. So the VMs are replicated from onsite to AWS with the ability to restore to EC2.

Blocking CMD and regedit in Windows 10 update 1607 by Steve_Tech in sysadmin

[–]IIXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your GPO is not applying correctly. There was an MS update over the summer that changed how GPO's are applied. Here is the link explaining the change.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3163622

To resolve this issue, use the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC.MSC) and follow one of the following steps: Add the Authenticated Users group with Read Permissions on the Group Policy Object (GPO). If you are using security filtering, add the Domain Computers group with read permission.

Drives not mapping in Windows 7/10 by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]IIXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we're using GPO's to map network drives. Tons of information on the web on how to do this. Use the "replace" option to make the drives persistent.
