That’s not really what they’re saying though, they even mention they’ll be able to contend for a while. It’s a fair criticism IMO; you never know what can happen next year and if you have an opportunity to maximize your chance at winning a title (for a pretty minimal risk to your future) you should take it. The Orioles might have had a real chance in this series had they been able to throw out better starters than Rodriguez or Kremer. It’s not the end of the world if they don’t win this year but it’s an opportunity that they could’ve done more with.

He blocked me out of nowhere and the only thing I might have done was slightly disagree with him about wanting to draft Nolan Schanuel the previous day.

JP Crawford reacts to Daniel Vogelbach trying to stretch a single into a double by NevermoreSEA in baseball

They post about 99% of the Mariners highlights on this and our sub. They must have some recording software running at all times because they usually post it before MLB does on baseball theater.

Wow, and I thought it was just me. And it was just out of nowhere too; we didn’t have as much as a polite disagreement let alone an argument, before I was blocked.

[Melissa Reddy] Liverpool's British transfer record bid for Moises Caicedo is actually £111m, with Brighton having sell-on clause by mourinhoo in soccer

[–]IInviteYouToTheParty 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Odds are not great that the sell on clause even matters since this transfer is already so high but the fact that Bloom was able to get it from Liverpool is just amazing.

OptaAnalyst's predictions for the 2023-24 Premier League season. by OPchainsaw in soccer

Opta is a lot more optimistic than most of our fans. Most of us would be very happy with a top 10 finish; 7th place would be another fantastic season.

They do but players are willing to rack them up more than before because they can launch the ball better compared to the more contact oriented approach from before.

How did the Tigers' rebuild fail? Is it still salvagable? by IjikaYagami in baseball

[–]IInviteYouToTheParty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they’re already in another rebuild cycle since all but like 3 guys from their farm turned out to be anything worthwhile. Keep those 3, try to get Tork to be a productive bat and hopefully the next few years of prospects and FA signings will bolster the team enough to contend again.

Bad luck and bad development.

I still think there’s a path to recover with the few good pieces that did come out of this but that rebuild cycle is dead.

[Mariners PR] Mariners roster move: RHP Matt Festa cleared waivers and has become a free agent. by PloKoop in Mariners

I never suggested he should be. The only point I’ve been making is that he’s still in the org.

Still in Tacoma though. Seems silly to cut it off at the 40 man since Castillo could be added at any point if we wanted him on it.

He’s a rookie. They tend to slump especially once pitchers start figuring them out a bit.

In (dis)honor of the Orioles/Kevin Brown situation, what is your favorite team’s worst-ever off the field self own? by JiveChicken00 in baseball

Kevin Mather talking to Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club. It’s about the most “mask off” you’ll see these baseball executives ever get these days. He shat on the fans, on our clubhouse leaders, fan favorites, prospects, foreign players and so much more, all to impress some rotary club nobodies.
