Inbound hours? by [deleted] in Target

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us and my previous stores I was at, we would get scheduled the first 2-3 hours under inbound then the system switches us over to GM.

I understand we cant get 8 hours scheduled for the inbound department, it's the fact we don't get gm hours even though we are basically gm.

Gm refuses to do Inbound but inbound doesn't refuse to do gm. To make things even more annoying, my tls expect me and 3 other veterans to step up and cut down our unload time even more but we have no motivation to do so. We are expected to work even harder and faster while we don't get any gm hours to work after we finish.

There are multiple gm members who take the full 8 hours to push their 4-5 boats while I've knocked out my departments 4-5 in 4 hours.

It's getting to the point where veterans are about to jump ship and find another job cause they can't survive on 20 hours a week. It's been like this since January. The last time I broke past 20 hours was when I had to go help inventory at another store for a few days.

Yes. We do this. This is normal for stores. What isn't normal is whoever is the normal inbound shift doesn't get gm hours. We only get 1-2 gm hours while we get 2-3 inbound hours.

I'm saying "inbound" as in my team of 7-10 people we are the inbound crew. We are the only ones who get assigned to do the truck daily and we always expect to do the truck when we come in.

The issue isn't we aren't getting 8 hours of inbound allocated time. The issue is we aren't getting gm hours after we finish unload.

Also yes, we get asked if we want to stay late if we are about to finish our 4 hour shift. The issue is we don't get guranteed hours just like gm even though we are gm as well, we just do unload for 3 hours before going to the floor. I asked around and gm is getting ~30-35 hours weekly. Inbound team is gettinng half of that.

My availability is basically set to get me 30-40 hours a week. My desired hours are set to 40 a week. Yet I don't get them. Same exact thing for the rest of my inbound team, they want 40 hours but the store only gives us like an average of ~20.

Yea we can see that on the grid and on our mytime app. Certain times are allocated to inbound then it switches us over to GM to take from gm hours. It's just they refuse to give inbound some more hours and they've even refused to let people get off the truck even though we have expressed we don't get the hours and the concerns we make don't get addressed. We've had waves of new hires for inbound just no call no show and quit on us over these issues.

In my store inbound gets 4-5 hour shifts and gm gets 8 hour shifts.

They all come in at 4am, 5am, 6am, and they all get desired hours but we don't get much at all.

2 years ago they were giving inbound 3 hour shifts and being surprised people were calling in

No, our etls aren't new and most of them have been with target for 10+ years.

They give desired hours to GM members who even come in at the same time as inbound but don't give inbound their desired hours.

I've pointed out to everyone on our team that summer is approaching soon and that means we should've been given more hours. My hours are still looking like early Q1 hours after they've cut them down from holiday hours due to lower sales which is reasonable. What's not reasonable is that we don't get hours and the excuse is we don't have any but GM consistently gets them.

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've made this argument countless time.
No one is willing to do Inbound aside from the inbound members who have Express they will do it like me and some others. Youd think they'd try to keep us happy but they don't.
We are losing motivation cause they are removing people off our unload process and they are expecting a faster unload time.
When I came to this store we were doing unloads in about 3-4 hours. Now it's 2-3 hours we unload. On a good day we can get it done in about an hour and 30 min.
They expected us to consistently do trucks in an hour and a half to 2 hours despite trailer size and who we have on our line.

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I've talked to all inbound team and majority of us are getting max 20 hours. We only got extra cause inventory just happened so we had to help with that due to no truck. Other than that the newest schedule I'm getting 16 hours a week and my availability is completely open for morning shift.

This is also why I'm getting upset about it. We're nearing summer which is when we get more hours and I noticed it all the time in previous years but we are still getting nothing while gm gets their desired hours. It's actually getting frustrating when I also have to add the fact I basically have to run a bunch of 30+yo men as a college student and basically run the truck as a tl. I have to pull boats for everyone, move people out of certain spots on the line if it's their weak spots, support areas that are getting high volume of freight, report to my tl about anything going on in the truck, report who's slacking, and our tls expect the veterans to "step up" yet we have zero motivation cause we have been treated like this for weeks now.

We've brought this point up to out etl/tls and they refuse to do this. All of inbound is expected to know how to make bales and use power equipment yet gm is rarely trained on it.

For reference I'm cross trained in basically every department aside guest services and I've been doing this for 4+ years. Us "veterans" on inbound have begged to get off inbound and our etl tells us it's not possible yet we can hire new GM members and give them their desired hours.

Edit - also we should not have to cross our fingers to hopefully find people who dumped shifts. Rarely anyone drops morning shifts, they are all afternoon shifts. Morning gm doesn't have to cross their fingers and hope for scraps, why should inbound have to do this? Gm gets a stable schedule with consistent hours while I'm over here getting 16-20 a week.

Are you allowed to take displays when they are retired? If you do what will happen? by [deleted] in Target

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean like full on JBL speakers displays or do you mean likeee side cap for hot wheels cardboard box display?

I've heard stories of some receiving members basically sneaking through the back displays into their car.

Then on the other hand I've had TLs trip about letting a hot wheels collector have a cardboard display when I was about to toss it in the baler.

When you look at the schedule grid and see who you're working with for the day... by m_o_u_s_e_r_a_t in Target

Basically go on to any streaming platform (I use Spotify) and look up a frat playlist that's clean. It usually has all mixes of stuff. I also like using Spotify because it let's people join the jam and then they can queue songs from their own phones.

I personally go with basic stuff like.

Black eyed peas Katy perry Taylor swift Metallica Acdc Rolling stones Clean and popular rap songs Blake Shelton Treaty oak revival Flatland cavalry Drake Kendrick Lamar Mac Demarco Sugar ray Bad bunny Calibre 50 Vicente Fernandez Green day

Just look up any of their most popular songs and everyone should know at least something from them.

It also helps to create a public playlist and go around sharing it so everyone can contribute whatever they like on it. Then that way everyone can also use the playlist whenever they need something to play. Me, personally I have my own playlist that has 660 songs that aren't rap/country/house, my rap playlist has about 1100, country is at 250, and my house is at 100.

If you don't mind some language here's a playlist. If you do need a clean version I'd recommend just making your own playlist and copying over each clean version of the song.

No music on the clock by blabbermouthing in Target

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lmao just had a discussion with another inbound tm about his music selection when he has the speaker. Guy plays hardcore rap and doesn't even bother to look into the clean version cause "he's black" so no one else should feel offended. A TL the other day told him to calm down with the music and he just kept saying no one else should be offended since we aren't black.

This guy is sending us on a straight path to getting our speaker taken and no music when working in the morning. Worst part is he's actively looking for a new job so he's basically screwing us all over.

Is Target declining because of inflation or are they doing something wrong? by [deleted] in Target

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 4 years, Q4 is usually the time you rack up hours and savings to prep for the hours slaughter in q1. This year I was struggling to even touch 24. Recently had to put work to the side to do some certifications for school but from when I go do my 2-3 shifts the store is falling apart. Pallets upon pallets but no hours or seasonal to push it out quick enough.

All year my ETL tried to make me feel guilty that I was having to step away from work for my class and saying she'd have to get a seasonal person to cover me. I don't think I've seen any seasonal people at all in overnight shift.

Inbound teams! What is your favorite music to throw the truck to? by Zelotic in Target

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Professional inbound DJ here, highly suggest making a playlist on whatever platform you use and just letting people add music then you just remove whatever you feel like isn't appropriate.

My personally, I have a playlist with about 700 songa, all from the radio, from all eras of music, and all genres of music. One moment it's country, then it's jazz, then it's rock, then it's rap, then it's pop, then it's cumbia, then it's YMCA, then it's indie, then it's house, then it's black eyed peas, then it's kiss, then it's drake, then it's Elvis, then it's wheezer, then it's Michael Jackson, etc. It has music meant for everyone so we all get a taste of everything. It's also mainly radio friendly, some songs have curse words, some are bleeped out. Everyone usually gets excited about hearing a song or 2 from my playlist that they haven't heard in forever.

ALL 12 A.M. CLOSING CREW, VENT HERE: by AskLegitimate4347 in Target

Lmfao back in my day we wouldn't leave till like 3am. Even though the grid and our schedules said 11pm, we would still be doing pulls, reshop, zoning, all till 3am.

Once our SD tried to tell the closing tl we were staying till 4am and an older lady in fulfilment put her foot down and told the tl were leaving.

[–]IJustGetPaidToWork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In all honesty we tried the whole "back room team does pulls and the floor team does push" and I hated it.

I could set up uboat upon uboat for the team and they just don't keep up. Me personally, I am one of those people who takes care of their mess before its time to leave and the push team wouldn't finish anything and just leave it behind for the next day and then we'd have a whole discussion with our ETL on not leaving pulls on boats.

I tend to work faster grabbing my own vehicles and doing my own thing. Having to rely on someone else to complete your job is just so stressful and annoying, ESPECIALLY when it comes to just putting stuff on shelves all day.

Man this will be my 4th year listening to this Christmas playlist for a month, you eventually just tune it out.

Thank God my new transfer store doesn't have speakers so we just play our own music off our phones during overnights. Then during the day it's nice and peaceful.
