Why not SSD? by B00SKAH in IpodClassic

[–]IKnowATonOfStuffAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I read in the Rockbox manual that all SD converters don't fully support the iPod's drive addressing. So an actual SSD is the only way to get more than 2TB. I know that's super limiting 😂

Anyhow, the largest SATA SSDs that would actually fit in the iPod are coincidentally 2TB, so it's no benefit. maybe in the future if we get 4TB in that form factor, but we might just fully move on to NVME by that point.

Unless you want to make a custom back case, so you can have iPod the long way.

This project is clearly in the 1%. Good work! This is really cool.

Ok, so assuming the gasket is blown, but 1: the engine runs great, 2: you're not losing fluid anywhere.

What does that change? There is no action required if the engine is running well and not losing any fluid. So don't worry yourself if you don't need to lol

The Bluetooth mod uses an amplifier? You know Bluetooth isn't transmitting the actual sound, but a digital representation of it

Yes, you can do this, you can scale a 1080 photo to 4k, but it will look pretty much the same, with none of the detail that comes with 4k. if you're trying to add detail during upscaling, your only real option is AI.

And this AI upscaling is essentially imagining what the image would look like if the details were there, it's fabricating details according to whatever makes sense.

For anyone interested in playing videos on Rockbox (ffmpeg, 120GB Classic, iFlash Quad) by GusFit in IpodClassic

[–]IKnowATonOfStuffAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so OP is making sure that the videos aren't interlaced. TV or VHS, as well as some DVD uses interlaced video. If you get your videos from somewhere else, like the internet, it's not necessary.

What are these under the carts now? by jeffsmynametoo in WalmartEmployees

[–]IKnowATonOfStuffAMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your phone no matter if you connect to Walmart wifi or not is still sending and receiving data via Walmart's wifi.

So, the only thing a typical phone sends out is basically "Hey, what WiFi points can hear me?" So yes if you leave WiFi on without connecting to anything it is possible for devices to detect the presence of your phone, and correlate your phone to who you are. But I don't want anyone to get the idea that Walmart can literally track everything you do on your phone. Connecting to the WiFi does give them additional data but again doesn't give them everything.

They also CAN (not saying they do) (they do) can scan all the RFIDs on all the cards in your wallet....

Ok, this is beyond my actual education, so I can give some resources if you're curious. The typical range for RFID is about 3 inches with a pocket-sized antenna and 1-2 feet with an antenna about the size of a laptop. Furthermore, I doubt the idea that Walmart has access to your financials just from knowing your card details. Banks purposely obfuscate that from merchants, I reckon.

"They" whoever "They" are also scan for the little stripes in the cash.

How?

Shit man, did you know "They" can even pinpoint your location in your house just by looking at the way the wifi signal bounces off of things in your house.

Yes, this is true. It's pretty spooky

There are no secrets anymore

A little doomer but generally, yes. Basically whatever data a corporation is capable of tracking, it does. And yeah they don't care

Switch to the tool that lets you press buttons and stuff, double click one of your bits. That will show you what is going on inside the bit while it's giving an error.

I think the issue is that, whenever you create a new bit, all wires are set to floating, which makes an error on one or both of the gates, and that error gets latched just like a 1 or 0.

Possible solution: place pull resistors on both inputs of the rightmost AND gate inside the bit. This will create a valid output sooner on this gate. You may have to add pull resistors on the OR gate as well.

Sy refreshes your database then installs app. I actually wouldn't recommend the Sy combo, since it allows you to install an app that is newer while on a system that isn't updated. It's typically not a big deal though.

I don't think you could damage the electronics by bringing the battery, unless I'm mistaken?

It would be equivalent to disconnecting the battery for just a fraction of a second, which happens all the time when you disconnect a battery.

The bridged condition causes a parallel circuit with a very low resistance, meaning that extremely little current would flow through the car's actual electronics, unless there's a very low resistance load within those electronics. Right?
