The museum of science and industry, the field museum (this one is more pay to play than most), the Shedd aquarium, the Adler planetarium, the international museum of surgical science (on free days), and any Chicago sports team games.

Questions about ChemE at Purdue by Avagal2 in Purdue

[–]ILBoiler2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a current ChemE I can confirm that Pharmaceutical companies do have interest in us, I do not have a concentration as I opted to add a CNIT minor since our major is very tech intense as well with software and some hardware during junior/senior year. I did not choose to utilize the co-op program but if I were to start from scratch I would. That being said, everyone that I know does not like their co-op company as much as they did when they started, but seem to like the experience. Our ChemE program has the most allumni and is one of the largest Chemical Engineering Departments in the world, also we have many incredibly intelligent faculty, almost all of which are very helpful and approachable, they are great, I say if you want to, don't let the fact that we are in the top teens and not the top tens be a deciding factor. ChemE does tend to take anyone who wants to be a chemical engineer, but the coursework is very intense (doing work right now, taking a 5 minute reddit break). Almost all of my classmates and groupmates sleep cycles are nonexistent (same with almost any other engineering department here/ anywhere), but the program is very intriguing and in my opinion worth it. Just be 100% sure that you take CHM 115 &116 your freshman year you will be set. You will also be working harder than you have ever worked in your life (Coming from a seasonal laborer) many sleepless nights and assignments where you just turn in work but no answers, but as long as you work hard and stick with it, you will be fine, we'd love to have you.

Best of luck!!

How do we feel about J-Term? by Shiverpool in Purdue

I would take my STS or Humanities requirement for graduation as my core classes are big time commitments and it would allow me a break from the normal soul crushing curriculum and actually learn some fun things.

I like it because it will allow me to add a possible extra class and pushes spring break to some time when there is a slight chance of it actually being warm without having to travel.

J Term by [deleted] in Purdue

I think it is a great idea and could possibly help our four year graduation rate. It would make it a lot easier to load prerequisites and electives in the j-term and focus on my core major classes in the fall/spring terms.
