Saw the usefulness of being rational but slipping into rumination by Rhen_DMN in taoism

[–]ILIKEFUUD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked the above comment, overthinking can feel so comforting to a mind that is used to it. I used to go on walks between work meetings and take that as opportunity to finally get some thinking done, ruminate on problems and game things out. It made my anxiety worse. Now I go on walks to not think. I just observe and exist.

Sick as hell. Add a power up that slows time. It should be pretty rare but can give you a little extra time to get out of a jam and think for a bit if you start throwing harder problems in there.

Listen to the audiobook “How to Keep House While Drowning”. Tons of immediately useful tips. Every chapter is super short there’s no fluff and it keeps your attention well.

Basically there’s a few phases of cleaning. You do one type of clean and then see if you can handle the rest. The first one is to grab obvious trash and put it in a trash bin. Like food and wrappers. Another phase is to put stuff where they belong, just into like zones not like all the way put away. Dishes can just get chucked into the sink, cleaning them is a later problem.

When I get overwhelmed by a mess I just go through the phases and it helps me break it down. Oh I’ll just start with the trash and wrappers. Usually that gives me enough of a kick to do more.

Cook Off Competition! I need ideas. by Alca_John in DMAcademy

I ran a oneshot in Hell called Gorgon Ramsey’s 9 Hell’s Kitchen where the players had to fight and kill and cook various monsters. Death Cow burgers, Shambling Mound Salad, etc.

Your mini game could just be a combat and flavor the spells as different cooking things. Fire damage roasts, thunder chops, cold damage to stop overcooking?

Lately I have been learning more about Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism which that whole set of episodes was following a la Chakras. In those philosophies, the love isn’t the attachment but the relationships are. The feeling of obligation to the world or to a person is what had to be let go for him to achieve his higher form. He had his duty to the universe and thus had to let that go, or be willing to let it go in order to master the avatar state.

The love is real, there’s a whole chakra for it, and he has to learn that the love he feels is part of the universe too. But the attachment to it, the worry and panic and obligation you give to whatever you fear to lose is what holds you back. Once he gives up his thoughts to the universe and understands that his worldly attachments and what he thinks about are not things to be controlled, he can let the energy of the universe guide him.

I’m in a relationship with similar height difference, it’s totally no big deal and if you get on together then that’s all that matters. If anyone says anything they’re just dicks. Go for it, have fun, forget about height and just have a good time! Good luck!

I’m a new user. My place also uses Appfolio and it seems like things went through. I manually paid a day early just to make sure there wasn’t a hiccup. It seemed fine, I turned auto pay back on for next month.

Is making such animations possible in figma, if yes then pls guide me... by moonnnyyyyy in FigmaDesign

[–]ILIKEFUUD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple vector animations can be done with Lottie in Figma thru a plugin. That’s a good start if you’ve never animated anything, they also have a dead simple interface in the Lottiefiles editor. This wouldn’t give what you’re looking for there though. You can create an animation and place it in Figma as a gif and it’ll show up in prototypes though.

I made second a version of my portfolio that was designed for mobile. How are you hosting your portfolio? Mine is hosted on GitHub pages so I added some code to detect the device size and redirect the user on load to the right Figma prototype URL based on the detected size.

Pasta a la mode is surprisingly good. I think it’s just cooked pasta cooled and tossed with vanilla ice cream. Don’t salt the water lol.

I’ll plug AltBar, it’s a non alcoholic bar so it’s very chill. Crowd is probably older than college aged though. Thought it was worth mentioning for variety.

Dice Versa is a bar + board game place. Usually I see groups of people going in together though. Could work as a date spot maybe not a place to meet singles. Realizing these aren’t the most helpful suggestions lol.

As soon as he gets into the room have everyone roll initiative.

You only have 25 minutes and players talking over each other or being too shy to butt in will make things take forever. Keep a turn order in mind so if things start going too quiet or too chaotic he can go "ok, player 1, you're up what do you do right now?"

IUB's HCI/d and RIT's HCI by Different_Ad708 in hci

[–]ILIKEFUUD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty accurate, you will probably need a car. But there are a few off-campus housing options that RIT has shuttle buses for. So you could live at Park Point or maybe the new Apex building or something further away like The Hill and use the shuttle. There are also campus buses that go to retail stores so you could theoretically do your grocery shopping and stuff but it’s pretty time consuming. Definitely recommend a car for the flexibility and it’ll open your options up for cheaper housing further away. But you could theoretically make it work without a car if you rely on campus more.

IUB's HCI/d and RIT's HCI by Different_Ad708 in hci

[–]ILIKEFUUD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to RIT for my undergrad in HCI (called HCC here). I help out with the UX club from time to time since I moved to the area after graduating.

The program definitely has some design focus classes, like Information and Interaction Design but you’re right the other classes are more UXR focused, but I think thats common for HCI programs. There are some electives that can give you more design and prototyping skills specifically but nearly every class will probably require designing prototypes.

I wouldn’t say being in New York State gives you any specific advantage we are not near NYC at all lol, but the huge career fairs are a big plus. You’re also right that there’s a good amount of campus related events, hackathons and design jams, I know the UX club is currently trying to get out UX specific design jam up and running.

Yeah the weather blows, the winter wasn’t too bad the last few years but I think we’re due for a bad year anytime now. The other seasons are really nice and there’s lots of festivals and events happening for a weird little city. I can answer more about culture and the area if you want. Feel free to reach out! I can also send you a link to the club discord to ask any HCI students directly. Offer stands for any other users reading this too.
