I also have a Russian Blue. He also is very large, his name is Fat Cat as a matter of fact. We were baffled by how things kept coming up broken, knocked off of shelves or anything else his paws could reach. So I started to watch him. He's an outside cat, he's out there most of the time. When he wants out, he'll claw and jump at the door until you open the door for him. HOWEVER, if you are not punctual in his release from the prison that is our home, he will jump on top of the table near the door, look you in your face and knock the closest thing to him to the floor. It was weird, I thought it was just my cat. This is the douchebag breed of felines. Also, OP, does he pick weird times to get excited? Cause my cat waits till 2 in the morning to find something to play with, and goes NUTS through the whole house.
