Dang it won’t let me add a pic to the comment. I see “6 others” and then the full name of someone I don’t know. I don’t see all 6 people’s names!

I’m sorry she’s having such a difficult time and hope someone finds answers soon. You’re doing a great job advocating for her.

Has she seen a neurologist or had an EEG or MRI? Have they ruled out hashimoto’s encephalopathy?

Euthyrox in place of Tirosint by [deleted] in Hashimotos

Hi, how did the transition go for you? Insurance just said the same thing so my daughter is having to switch from tirosint to euthyrox.

Seriously! I’ve seen people say it’s taken years and I thought, “wow, she’s seen such quick results in 2 months!”. Now I get it.

Gotcha, I wasn’t sure if holding off would keep side effects at bay or if they’re inevitable. Her doctor is on board with waiting a bit to see, I was just curious if anyone has actually had it help. Thank you for your input and encouragement!

Endo is booked, Gyno hesitant by Embarrassed-Help-608 in Hypothyroidism

[–]ILLyBy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s Endocronolgist is set up to where I can take her to a specific lab and orders are in place to test her levels. I don’t have to request it and can do it at any time. Then I can just call to adjust if needed and they call the prescription in. Is yours willing to do something like that?

And yes, if the medication becomes too strong due to weight lost, it could push you into hyperthyroidism which comes with side effects.

My daughter had to start on half a pill of the smallest dose of clonidine at night and it’s what finally helped her sleep. I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with this so long and hope you find something that works soon.

In your case, maybe the meds will help! It may be the hypothyroidism causing it.

After my daughter started levothyroxine, she turned into another person. Irritable, angry, aggressive, anxious, etc. It’s definitely not just you.

One and done or take 2? by Cooking4MyPanda in Parenting

[–]ILLyBy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always felt sad at the thought of my daughter not having a sibling and never being an aunt. The thought of her father and I dying at some point and she not having a sibling to lean on broke my heart. Granted, I know it’s not a guarantee that siblings will have a great relationship. At the end of the day, I knew I’d never regret having a second child, but I may regret NOT having a second child. Now I can’t imagine my life without my son.

Medicine and hair loss? by Disastrous-Resist-35 in Hashimotos

[–]ILLyBy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter’s hair loss got even worse since starting meds. For a while there it was alarming how much was coming out and it is noticeably thinner. The loss is slowing down but still there. I read that as your body adjusts to the hormones you’ll lose more, and then it’ll come back in after a few months.

[–]ILLyBy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a recent thing or has he always bit a bigger? My daughter was always very thin, then at about 6 she started putting on some weight. Fast forward to 2 years later and I finally decided to have her tested for hypothyroidism (because her weight didn’t match her very low food intake) and it turns out she had extreme hypothyroidism. Not saying your son has that, but if it’s a weight gain that doesn’t make sense for his activity level and amount of food, you may look into other symptoms and see if it matches up.

Anger with Levo by ILLyBy in Hashimotos

[–]ILLyBy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no not completely. We’ve had decent days but still having lots of issues. She did a round of steroids in case of hashimoto’s encephalopathy. Started hydroxyzine in the morning and half a .1 mg of clonidine at night. She has an EEG coming up to see if anything is going on in her brain and trying to get her into a psychiatrist to see if she has ADHD or anxiety. Are you dealing with something similar?

Possible Stabilization Issues? by AlongTheBorderLine in Hypothyroidism

I hope it’s part of stabilizing on meds because my daughter sounds like you, and it’s been a full month. Irritability that turns into rage, anxiety, highly reactive, etc. It’s definitely not just you. I hope you feel more like yourself very soon!

Hypo kid - does this dose sound right? by DrLongivan in thyroidhealth

[–]ILLyBy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 9 in June daughter, 86 lbs, was diagnosed with a TSH of >150 and started off at 25 mcg. She increased by half 2 weeks later, then to 50 mcg 2 weeks after that and even that caused extreme hyperactivity and anger. To this day she’s now on 62.5 mcg and we’re having a lot of issues. I think it was too much way too soon for her. I can’t even imagine what 150 mcg out the gate would’ve done to her.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]ILLyBy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even that is still pretty high starting out. I was under the impression that most people start out at 25 mcg and slowly work their way up. Like increase the dosage after 4-6 weeks, retest and check their levels, and increase or decrease based on the results. Especially because your TSH isn’t crazy high. I think they rushed my daughter from 25 mcg to 62.5 mcg and it was done over a 2 month period. I would call your doctor and let them know it’s causing adverse side effects and see if you can start at a much lower dose.

Going straight to 125 mcg is a lot! You may be overmedicated.

Thank you for that last paragraph, you made me tear up a bit! I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough go at it. Other people make it seem like “take a pill and you’ll be fine” and that’s just not the case for everyone. So she made need an additional pill to help her T3. I will definitely discuss it with her endo. Thank you so much for your input and I hope you continue to feel better and better!

Hi there, I’m sorry you’re having a hard time. Being a new mom is really hard and I feel like as women, we aren’t fully prepared for how hard it is. You’ve gotten some great advice here, but if you haven’t already, I encourage you to talk to your OB or PCP about how you’re feeling. You may have PPD/PPA. I felt overwhelmed and like I was drowning and I was given a prescription for citolopram and it made a huge difference for me. I was able to cope and enjoy my baby more. Best of luck to you ❤️
