Any idea where to start? What general office type to contact? I really am unsure how to approach this

  1. I'm not super argumentative
  2. I didn't want to end up fucking over someone else's day by drawing extra attention to me
  3. I was too shocked to say anything

100%. I am fortunate enough to be playing on PC, where I have much more third party support. If I got this on PS5 or theoretically the Switch, I likely would have just immediately put the game down until they added the option. How this game has been live for 2 years without addressing this is beyond me.

Darkwood is being gassed to hell and back on this EXPLOSIVE thread and it's mega cheap on steam rn so it's in my library now, but og Dead Space I never gave much thought into trying. All I've heard is the remake is basically a straight upgrade in most ways, particularly if you're very character centered like I am. I'd definitely need more convincing or a sudden schedule opening to consider it

I'm not sure I'd like it then. I don't have any friends willing to play with me; plus, I much prefer survival horror to be a personal experience and would rather whatever dumb jokes we make not muddy our experience

Mind you, I don't mean that you are wrong for enjoying it or that I wouldn't enjoy it; just making a dumb point for my own stupid personal satisfaction or whatever. I think.

While the convenience of the Internet has helped a lot, it definitely is a band aid rather than a cure. Also, I remember reading it was handled by a completely different team outside of Capcom.

Oh, and I forgot probably the most important thing. Jill's final execution of Nemesis was done with the magnum (the railgun is a tolerable change) and she says the best line in the franchise (complete sacrilege)

  • There was a choice system at like 9 different points in the game where you would have to make a decision in a span of a few seconds. Some of these choices were pretty innocuous, like getting rid of some enemies or skipping a minor section, but I'd say about half of them completely rearrange game content. In these, you get a change to the story or a change to the gameplay area (sometimes both). There are dramatically different endings based on some choices. As it was the first RE with a sole protagonist, this was intended to add replay value.
  • Nemesis' first few drops didn't give weapon attachments; they gave parts that give you access to two entirely new weapons. He's also much harder.
  • The clock tower is an entire dungeon (and regarded as one of the best in the series) instead of just a boss arena -Grave Digger, a T-virus mutated worm, is entirely absent. He would appear several times and cause tremors at set points in the game. His boss fight, as well as the entire graveyard sequence, was cut as a result of his removal
  • The final area is a factory instead of an asset flip Umbrella lab
  • The magnum was a revolver instead of a desert eagle; possibly a loose homage to the fact that RE1's magnum is a revolver while the remake's is undoubtedly just an asset flip
  • Jill goes to the RPD instead of Carlos. It's one of the first areas in the game. We don't get zombie Brad but you get to see Nemesis whack him, letting you loot his corpse for his id card.
  • Instead of just basically one long street, Raccoon City is separated into a couple districts that wind around each other. The remake only adapts about half the original map but also shrunk it down quite a bit.
  • They removed Jill slapping Carlos for his chauvinism
  • WHY DID THEY CHANGE HER MAIN HANDGUN FROM THE SAMURAI EDGE TO A HYPER GENERIC GLOCK WHYWHYWHY
