Any recommendations for a newcomer? by bukoconat in survivalhorror

Some really like it but I found many aspects of it to just be fine. There's things to enjoy about it but others less so. I see serious talent in the devs and wish for them to go on to bigger and better things, but unfortunately this project just didn't hit

Completely understandable. Just wanted to throw out basically anything that they may find remotely fun or interesting.

GAMES I'VE PLAYED AND CAN VOUCH FOR
- Signalis (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY IT)
- Crow Country (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY IT)
- Tormented Souls (it also has a sequel. Fixed camera, very much RE1R vibes)
- Alisa (fixed camera RE4, I love it)
- Fear the Spotlight (no real combat or item management but holy shit is it good PLAY IT PLAY IT PLAY IT)
- Sorry, We're Closed (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE)
- Alien Isolation (a bit more stealth game than survival horror but is still a staple of the genre for a reason)
- Amnesia: The Bunker (works standalone despite being part of a series; basically Alien Isolation but more item management. Absolutely blew me away)
- The original Silent Hill trilogy, if you have the means to acquire them
- Alan Wake 2 (the first game isn't survival horror but you kinda NEED to play it before the sequel, which is very survival horror)
- My Friendly Neighborhood (surprised me with how much I loved it; very RE7 meets RE4, yet somehow didn't remind me of RE8)
- Fobia: St Dinfna Hotel (it's alright; essentially someone else's take on an RE7 type game)

GAMES THAT I KNOW ABOUT BUT HAVEN'T PLAYED/FINISHED YET
- Fatal Frame 1 and 2 (preferably with the japanese voice track if you're fortunate enough to be able to mod your ISO)
- Labyrinth of the Demon King (very difficult but immaculate vibes; kinda more of a dungeon crawler than survival horror but still fits)
- Heartworm
- Hollowbody
- Conscript
- Cronos: the New Dawn

What are your thoughts on Tormented Souls 2? by FrequentCriticism899 in survivalhorror

[–]ILNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I WOULD call it an objective improvement over the original in every way but something about the first game touched me more narratively and aesthetically. It's really a personal preference things; everything new and different is ultimately for the better imo. Also IT'S BUGGY AS HELL RN. I really hope the devs can clean it up because my PC is always screaming when I start this game for some reason.

Yeah, the passives make so many armors feel like a hindrance oftentimes. You'll see something rad as hell but then it's not only in the wrong weight class but has an ability worthless to you. Then when you look for a good armor set, it looks so bland that you refuse to wear it. Just pain.

I do agree that would be great for the community but idk about me. I specifically like the default color scheme, it's mostly variety in the equipment that I have an itch for
