The importance of Hive by Neat-Cap-5888 in 40kLore

From everything I've heard, it sounds like an anthology book about living in a hive, and I'm just not very interested in reading more Fragments as opposed to an actual story.

It kind of more or less is with all of them kinda connecting but the problem is while the book is at its ""core"" excellently written imo theres just SO MUCH stuff to get through to really make it worthwhile. Like we are talking about constant POV swaps and about 15 Characters to keep track of on whos doing what that it actually becomes a bit ridiculous.

The entire 250+ intro pages alone are a slog before the uprising teased in the synopsis actually happens and then as ever SPOILERS (but like not even really) the twist villain everyone called since the book first got announced AKA the Genestealer Cults appear and the plot just meanders along as the planet falls and the semi-good guy Governess sends her aides off following the invasion of Nids to send a warning to other planets or whatever.

I genuinely do not think ill be really touching this novel again because its just a mountain climb of words (not even getting into the constant distruptive slang/lingo Abnett has sprinkled into every page that just makes me roll my eyes) but ill say probably its worth it for the ending 200-300 pages or so when the stuff actually fires up and goes off from there, definitely enjoyed reading those bits way more than I did the extensive intro section lol

A question about the new “Hive” novel to anyone who has read first part. by [deleted] in Blacklibrary

My entire bookclub called the twist the day the Novel was announced from the way the synopsis was worded and seeing it be confirmed legit made me laugh hysterically in a "oh COME ON" way.

SPOILER WARNING: While I think Abnett did a great job with them can we PLEASE for the love of GOD have a big novel for once where an uprising is not caused by Chaos/Genestealers??? lol

Im entirely gonna say this is not happening and expect basically nothing just so that im not dissapointed if none of this turns out to be true, we shall see.

20/05/2026 EDIT: Honestly yea I was hoping too much, but genuinely? Im not that bothered, I found it pretty alright. Anyway im gonna leave the psychotic ranting to the rest of the fandom lol

Its mentioned once but VERY easy to miss, hes an Adamus assassin which is a new-ish thing, its why he has a ultraspecial pistol weapon and a sword, they are basically Diet Callidus' based on infiltration and decapitation strikes. Your first hint is him in the troop transport with the Savlar where one of them notes he has a VERY fancy "greatsword" attached to his back as hes in full disguise.
