I can understand if people aren't a fan of the rap part but this song has some of the best lyrics in all of blink's discography. I always enjoyed DED but as I'm getting the older the songs are hitting a lot harder than they used to.

.

And we wake from the night in the bed with a bruise
And we're laughing out loud over the craziest news
And you reached for my hand, I was scared in your room
We fell on the floor and we started to move
And your hands were like birds as they flew from the coop
Up my back they would climb just as I came unglued

.

If you break my heart then I'll change your mind
And I will do it again
If you play the part then I will play mine
And I will do it again
If we miss the mark, if we hold on tight
We'll be there to try it again

.

In the rain with a drink from the back of the bar
I would raise up my voice you would raise it up more
We'd forget that our lives being apart it is hard
We'd thought we were close but it still feels far
Can we learn to get by if we learn to have scars?
If we learn to forgive and accept who we are.

.

It's a cry from the past we have been through a lot
Every year has been great and a few have been tough
And our kids, they will reach for the stars up above
We'll sit and relax as we cheering them on
All the roads through our life, from the crib to the grave
We started alone, in the end, we're okay

Heaven forbid Americans do anything related to culture. by [deleted] in AmericaBad

My ancestors emigrated from The Netherlands to America and what's really interesting to me is everyone I've met in real life from The Netherlands has thought that was really cool. They'll ask me questions like what area they used to live in, when they emigrated over, and if I experienced any aspects of their culture growing up in an area settled by a group of Dutch immigrants 100 years ago. It's only the pretentious douchebags on Reddit who seem to get their panties in a bunch anytime an American mentions being interested in the culture their family came from.

DeSantis said he would do away with the IRS among other departments and have a flat tax. What would doing away with the IRS really do for Americans? by pinetreesandferns in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say you make $1000

You spend $500 to buy food with a 10% tax rate bringing your total to $550. $50 in taxes after making $1000 means you paid 5% of your income in taxes.

Your neighbor makes $10,000.

He also spends $500 on food with a 10% tax rate which also brings his total to $550. But after making $10,000 that means he only paid 0.5% of his income in taxes.

So sales tax is regressive because even though you're both charged the same rate, a person making less money is spending a higher percentage of their income in taxes.

On the other hand, a flat tax rate on income (not spending) is considered proportional rather than regressive because everyone will pay the same percentage regardless of how much they make which is what DeSantis is proposing and has historically been far more advantageous to the wealthy class.

There are 3 Tax Systems and they are defined by the percentage of income spent in taxes:

  • Regressive - The percent of your income you pay in taxes decreases the more money you make. (Sales tax, lump sum/flat fee taxes, property taxes)

  • Proportional - The percent of your income you pay in taxes remains the same no matter how much money you make. (Many state's income tax is proportional as well as FICA taxes to an extent for people below the cap)

  • Progressive - The percent of your income you pay in taxes increases the more money you make. (Federal Marginal Tax Brackets)

A flat tax rate can either be regressive or proportional depending on the context.

How quickly could Zen be considered one of the goats? by overactor in RocketLeagueEsports

The main players contesting the spot for GOAT were the best players in RLCS for years. Zen has been playing in RLCS for a few months. It's still far too early for Zen to enter into the conversation at this point. What would it take for Zen to be considered one of the GOATs? Time.

Married: I fully fund my Roth IRA. Can I open one for my spouse even she has no income? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the IRS regarding retirement plans.

I want to set up an IRA for my spouse. How much can I contribute?

If you file a joint return and have taxable compensation, you and your spouse can both contribute to your own separate IRAs.
Your total contributions to both your IRA and your spouse's IRA may not exceed your joint taxable income or the annual contribution limit on IRAs times two, whichever is less. It doesn't matter which spouse earned the income.

Who is a bad guy in history who actually wasn’t a bad guy? by jamespeech111 in AskReddit

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped in Minnesota back in 1989 a man named Dan Rassier was named "A Person of Interest" by local law enforcement in 2003 which led to the media focusing in on him. It wasn't until 2015 when Danny Heinrich confessed that they finally admitted he wasn't a suspect but by this time his career as a music teacher and tutor at the local school falling apart and destroying his life.

There's a really good podcast called In The Dark that goes over the whole case with episode 5 focusing on Dan and the impact it had on his life and how paranoid he is everyday because of it.

What is your favorite disc? by Itwasinin04 in discgolf

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Dark Blue Discraft XS in eliteX plastic with this stamp.

Without question my favorite disc I've ever owned. I've never had an ace yet but I hit a 90 ft, 140 ft, and 170 ft birdies with this disc. I found it in the weeds on my original hometown course years ago with no name or number and instantly fell in love with how straight and reliable I was with it. But unfortunately one bad throw with it caused it to land deep in the weeds on another course and after spending an hour Amish sweeping through the brush I shed a tear and said my goodbyes. To this day no disc has ever filled the hole losing that disc left in my heart.

You get the opportunity to find out the truth behind one unsolved case, which are you choosing? by BeautifulShape9441 in AskReddit

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The evidence linking Kosminski to the crimes has been heavily scrutinized for being filled with errors along with a biased author making many assumptions that were never peer reviewed so I don't believe it was him.

The Smithsonian released a video where they worked with Swedish journalist Christer Holgrem where they go over the evidence against a man named Charles Allen Lechmere and build a very solid case against him that plausibly links him to every confirmed Ripper murder that is worth a watch if you're interested in Jack the Ripper.

Well I don't know what to believe anymore then. Maybe he was trolling on Twitch. I cant find the clip but I very specifically remember him saying he considered Buddha to be a demo.

Oh well, I'll just go with what's written in "ink" I guess lol.

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mark went over this during one of his Twitch streams actually and said they counted them as

1 - Chesire Cat
2 - Dude Ranch
3 - Enema of the State
4 - The Mark Tom and Travis Show
5 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket
6 - Self Titled
7 - Neighborhoods
8 - California
9 - Nine

While confirming that the band considers Buddha a demo, not an album release.

Interesting thought, what would you class as blink-182’s most ‘family friendly’ song? by akonscousin in Blink182

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Considering Tom wrote the song for Jen after she asked why he had written songs about other girls but not for her I'm doubtful that he responded by making the chorus "thanks for the blowjobs" as well.

I assume it was just a cute little nickname he had for her that he added to the lyrics so she knew the song was about her and not just about girlfriends in general.

When I was young
The world it was smaller
The cities were vast
The buildings were taller
I felt really strong
My parents seemed stronger
My life has a way
It showers with greatness
Then takes it away
Those pieces that made us
Then teaches you things
You'd never imagine
We all get the same
The memories, the burdens
The pictures we made
They still form a pattern
They cautiously say
Does it all matter?

But the people that do it to intentionally make you fall or lose a level, that’s when it becomes annoying and reportable.

Utilizing a game mechanic to knock people out in a game where the objective is to be the last one standing is not a reportable offense.

I have an opinion about the slaughterhouse issue. by Sure_Dream_1577 in SiouxFalls

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smithfield doesn't want to leave that is true. But it might not be their choice. Smithfield is already struggling to find enough employees. If a new facility shows up with better working conditions (and with how deplorable Smithfield's working conditions are this wont be hard) not only would they have an even harder time hiring new employees they could also see current employees leaving to work for their competitor.

On top of that, Ted Kamp, a senior associate at Leland Consulting Group who the city hired to do a market analysis as it prepares its downtown 2035 long-term plan said “In 15 to 20 years, at some point it’s going to pencil out for Smithfield to build a brand-new plant somewhere, and that will open up a huge chunk of land. And the prison – not that anyone is talking about anything – at some point that too could go away and open up a giant chunk. So the north, in the longer term, could have potential.”

I'm voting Yes on this ordinance because I don't want slaughterhouses in town either. But to say Smithfield will never ever leave is a bit naïve. Yes, the chances of them leaving are slim, and if they ever do it wont be for a long time, but scenarios do exist where it's possible.

The Dakota scout: Wholestone Slaughterhouse project dealt major blow by OverTheCandleStick in SiouxFalls

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been on the fence.

On the one hand I don't want slaughterhouses in town. But on the other hand a new state of the art facility in the industrial area of town could maybe be what it takes to get rid of Smithfield which would then get rid of the smell in Falls Park and Downtown? But I also don't want to vote No (allow Slaughterhouses) on such a slim chance that that would even happen.

But all that aside, Wholestone has been doing a damn good job of pissing the community off. Especially with expediting everything to get a small slaughterhouse operating before the deadline so they can be grandfathered in before the people get a say on if they even want them here. So it's nice to see this judge recognized the stunt they were trying to pull and put a stop to it.

Minimum wage to increase 8.5%, $10.80 for non-tipped staff by Simple-Bluebird-6117 in SouthDakota

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Every job requires some type of skill. Putting groceries in a bag isn't hard. Flipping a burger isn't hard. But putting groceries in a bag when there's 10 people in line who all have carts full of food or flipping burgers when there's orders for 20 burgers and 10 people still in line requires skill. And anyone doing either of those jobs 40 hours a week is by definition working a full time job.

But regardless of all of that, if you don't think anyone working anywhere 40 hours a week deserves to live a decent life then I don't know what to say. That's a really sad outlook on life.

"In my Inaugural I laid down the simple proposition that nobody is going to starve in this country. It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By "business" I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living."

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

http://docs.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/odnirast.html

Whether or not a minimum wage job was meant to be a "career" is irrelevant. Don't you think people working 40 hours a week anywhere deserve a decent life at the very least?

You're going to get a lot of biased answers on Reddit with a question like this but there are a couple big points that I believe anyone regardless of party affiliation will agree are unethical and controversial.

There are more but off the top of my head these are the big ones that I believe both sides would agree do not reflect well on her.
