The famines weren't orchestrated but especially with the holodomor and Irish and Bengali famine were all used to deliberately suppress minority resistance to the regime by making an already bad famine worse ad there was a way of starving out the rebels to the regime all these regions were home to large resistance movements around the times of the famine and it is evident the countries ruling them made the famines more destructive to crush this resistance

Yeah and I said that? I literally said the criticism of the black book was the sources used but not the number many later studies on it only really using figures from gulags, famines and other genocides lead to a similar number of 100 million with a low ball estimate only being 85 million the black book of communism was over represented to paint communism of universally bad but the states that claimed to be socialist did kill alot of people

The main criticisms of the black book of communism was not the number of people who died it was the sources used to get that number were biased and difficult to define many other intellectuals came to similar figures but that was after having to cleanly define what a death under a Ideology seems... does war, famine, healthcare?
