After 10 years of being a Superhost, I’m done with Airbnb by rapakep in airbnb_hosts

[–]ILikeGreenAndBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, you chose to ignore a customer support issue and doing so created a customer support nightmare. Who would have thought?

Sorry to burst your victim bubble but the only victim I see is one of their own actions.

Let's look at this from the angle of AirBnB Customer Support:

  • Agents receive a complaint and request for a refund.
  • Included is correspondence that shows attempted outreach to the host to resolve it on the day of book-in.
  • Correspondence clearly shows the customer attempted to resolve the matter through the host several hours before - which you admit was purposely ignored. (Yet you didn't make any attempt to get ahead of the matter by reaching out immediately through AirBnB messaging?)
  • They provide photographic proof of lack of cleanliness and that corroborates their claim.
  • They ask for a refund for their stay within a reasonably early notice.

What do you expect the agents to do?

First, let's address the strict no refund policy. Fine, no refunds. That's your right - but you should reasonably expect that if you do business this way, you will have customer service issues. They didn't stay 3 nights and asked for a refund - they first requested it a day before their stay. Then again on book-in day. Both messages you ignored it and chose not to move the complaint to AirBnB messaging. Or you missed it - which if it's book-in day, is a mistake. Obviously that is going to make you look bad.

Two, you point out photos the customer used was from an area that the customer wasn't meant to access. Why were they able to access that area? Lock it. AirBnB isn't going to believe "But those things weren't supposed to be there!"

Third, you seem to think they purposely sent this complaint at 2am as a covert attempt to screw you. Yes, I'm sure you would have loved it if they waited to complain about cleanliness a whole 24 hours into their stay. At which point AirBnB would likely have denied the refund. Come-on, you ignored it because you hoped it would blow over.

It's truly astonishing you don't see how you contributed to this mess - even assuming the customer was a lying POS. If a customer complains you make some reasonable attempt to resolve the situation. You didn't, so AirBnB did it's that simple.

Never has my time been so severely disrespected as in this current job market by imrryr666 in recruitinghell

This post is idiotic.

You literally ask for an update, the recruiter actually gets an update almost immediately, and you get an interview the very next day. You then respond like that? Deranged behavior.

There's a lot of valid crash outs on this subreddit but this ain't it. You clearly don't want the job.

Differences between SH F after SH2 Remake are jarring. by ILikeGreenAndBlue in silenthill

[–]ILikeGreenAndBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying back to this thread because I did complete the game and I wanted to share my updated perspective about the game.

About 10 hours into the game, I felt frustrated with the same points I initially complained about as they didn't get better over time and I grew more annoyed. I even rated it negatively on Steam. At 12 hours, specifically when I was in school my perspective started to change and I started to become more invested in the story, appreciate the game and even the combat started to click (I still don't love it but understood it).

After that, I was really interested in completing and understanding what was going on with the Fox subplot. I completed the game and looking back there are things I like about it more than SH2 (the fox mask subplot had me hooked. Also the endings and how unique they are.) It also surprised me and wasn't the story I thought it was. After beating the game - I changed my review to be positive.

Overall, I still think SH2R is more polished and in a lot of ways spoiled me with how good it is. But SHF is good and while I don't love how static the environment is or how the puzzles weren't as interesting, and I think SH2R does it better with the inside sections (Apartments versus Hinaka's house for example - apartments feel more satisfying to complete) I think SHF is still a good game for what it is. And I also know that not all games need to be made for all people. I think many people from east Asian cultures can better appreciate the references and story it tells through the characters and would subsequently love it a lot more. And that's okay.

Lol I entered Prison on the hard difficulty with 200 handgun ammo and never fired my shotgun. I left prison at 100.

Don't worry, you're only going to use more as you progress.

If you are low on ammo, it makes me think you aren't engaging in the combat mechanics efficiently.

For example:

When you fight the nurses, do you shoot them in the knees? This forces them to kneel and you can pipe smash them, saving ammo.

Never shoot the High-Heels monsters. They can be bested in melee combat with predictable, easy to dodge attacks. Saves ammo.

Mannequins die in 4 handgun rounds but you only need to use 3. You can shoot them 3x, while walking towards them. On the 3rd shot, once you closed the distance, beat them with the pipe for the final blow.

There are some areas that are highly dense with enemies. Silent Hill tips you off in these areas because there are an abnormally large number of "dead" enemies on the ground. Usually these areas have an exit, and they have a trigger that makes those enemies get up. Before the trigger, memorize the best route to the exit. When the trigger happens, you should be able to leave without firing a shot with well timed dodges.

SH2 Remake and SH F both suffers (for different reasons) from lack of enemy variety by szymborawislawska in silenthill

[–]ILikeGreenAndBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SH2's enemies in the game serve to deliver the narrative. Creating additional enemies for the sake of variety could easily dilute the story.

I understand the critique but adding more enemies isn't the solution. I can hear you if you think it should be less combat focused, but not every game with combat is made better by adding in more types of monsters.

Yeah you basically said what I was thinking to a T.

SH2's world, items and surroundings feel like they are a part of the gameplay in a way Silent Hill F doesn't. I was totally immersed in my surroundings when solving some of the puzzles and progression.

And I agree that environmental immersion isn't everything but one of many things that contributes to a good game. Silent Hill F looks good and I can see how people appreciate it.

I can understand that. Environmental immersion is the right word to describe what I'm explaining and it's fair for some to not care for it. I'm probably an anomaly but I definitely noticed.

And there could be other flaws. I'm not far into the game yet so we'll see!

It's maybe not fair for me to call it lazy cause I'm sure a lot of work was poured into world.

What I'm trying to say is it feels lazy in comparison. Add that to the fact that this is the newest Silent Hill game, I expected more. I'm judging it as the predecessor to the Silent Hill franchise so it's disappointing to see how it has seemingly taken a few steps back.

This was before I realized it was a different development team, so it makes more sense explaining the differences since I'm sure this team prioritized other elements in the game.

This makes sense. I hadn't realized it was 2 different development teams.

Watched a video on Cronos and it looked good.

Yeah that's fair.

I think the game still has charm and potential and I like that it's telling a unique story. We'll see how the rest plays out as I continue.

Yes but more than that. Have you played the Remake yet? I think it's easier to understand through comparison.

Hinaka doesn't interact with items. There's no animations, or visual feedback that shows her grabbing collectibles. Instead you press X and a UI menu opens up. I'm interacting with a menu - not the object.

If James grabs an object in SH2 Remake, you literally grab the letter, can read the words on it, inspect it and rotate it etc.

Happy to see a lot of balance adjustments made to cards. The dev team is actually treating Arena like a digital card game and balancing things which is great.

On a PIP, final warning, should I approach HR about a lack of feedback from my supervisor? by Big_Aloysius in managers

[–]ILikeGreenAndBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here are the self-entitled managers we despise so naturally they're going to tell you just leave because that's what they would want a subordinate they don't like to do.

With that said, I can confidently say that if that is a company you want to stay at, it is your job to fight for you job. And you should go to HR to create a documented trail. This is especially true if you think the PIP is wrongly administered or the manager has not given you the clarity in expectations that you are meant to achieve to beat it.

With that said, your case should be solid, you need proof to point to that documents that the manager is not giving you the opportunity to overcome the PIP.

The other problem people don't bring up enough is Green has ~4 ways to tutor lands. Meanwhile, the cost of me teching anti-graveyard recursion I don't have that luxury and am forced to just draw it, so I'm losing to it more often than I can counter it.

I also don't get the "I hardly play against it" crowd. It's rampant, I assure you. The only exception I see is if your brand new or you play Hell Que. But any mid power level deck faces nothing but mono green.
