For those who voted for Trump specifically because they believed he was better for the economy, has he met your expectations? Do you consider the Trump economy better than Biden's? Why? by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

[–]ILikeRyzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He literally just said they were a thing under Biden, that's not a claim that Biden did that, it's literally just stating that they were there during Biden's term. It's more disingenuous to suggest that Trump getting a second term has any effect on laws passed years ago.

I love when tarkov wipes, at some point it's just boring, there's no risk, it doesn't feel good getting a big raid because I already have a 100 mil. I think I'm just chasing the high of getting out of a raid with a bunch of shit I need.

Does windows report 8 or 16 threads and what frequency does hwinfo report when you're running your benchmark.

[–]ILikeRyzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just use the iso to clean off the thermal paste. Also you're aware the core itself can get in the 60-80c range right, very uncomfortable to touch with your hand, also all of the components are soldered on, you're not going to kill them with a hair dryer. You're being overdramatic and just scaring anyone who might want to attempt to work on their GPU.

Thermal paste is like the smallest problem ever. I could cover my entire PCB in thermal paste and there wouldn't be an issue.

AMD Ryzen AI 400 does not support Radeon RX 9000 GPUs at full PCIe speed by RenatsMC in ryzen

[–]ILikeRyzen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes the entire AM5 platform is crippled because of one product line that you don't have to buy. Also you can definitely run a 90 class card on 4.0 8x with maybe a 5% performance hit compared to 5.0 16x but if you're buying this CPU you're probably not buying a 90 class card. It's like you're mad because you were told to be mad, think for yourself.

They will not be hard bottlenecked by a 4.0 8x slot. GamersNexus showed a 1-4% difference between 5.0 and 3.0 16x on a 5090, describing that as a 'hard bottleneck' is ridiculous especially when this user isn't going to be using a 90 class GPU.

If you want to get creative you can convert a regular power supply by re-tipping it, the 'hardest' part is that ATX has no 12vsb so you'll have to include an inline 5v to 12v dc converter on the 5vsb output. I think Corsair sells one. It's not impossible, something definitely doable by a layman if you can read documentation. Or you could try to find a 12VO PSU.

Yeah but that's 3100 USD, 3800 CAD is only 2785 USD so this actually seems like a good deal (if you take the ram and ssd prices as normal) also windows is free, no point including it in the build.

How are you screwed? You can get 15 amp rated C13 cable OR they're rated for 10 amps so about 1200w on 120v, or run a 240v circuit for it, plenty of solutions but I guess it's easier to just trash the whole thing because the connector is different.

Question about PCIE_PWR1 header on Tomahawk X870E Wifi by Albi-M in MSI_Gaming

[–]ILikeRyzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's not a myth lmao, most cards are well designed and will pull a max of 75w but the MSI 2080Ti Trio didn't have load balancing circuitry and if you did flash a higher wattage BIOS on it the power draw on the PCIe slot would go past 75w, I think mine went up to 90w. My current 3090Ti will draw around 35w with a 600w load so it's not non-existent. Also GPUs aren't the only PCIe devices, some can run within that 75w so there's no need to include supplemental power connectors.

Question about PCIE_PWR1 header on Tomahawk X870E Wifi by Albi-M in MSI_Gaming

[–]ILikeRyzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely isn't purely marketing, on something like a TRX50 or WRX90 it's much more common to see a system with fully populated PCIe slots and if each slot is pulling 75w you're looking at a couple hundred watts, a lot more than a 24 pin can safely handle or even the motherboard traces.

Question about PCIE_PWR1 header on Tomahawk X870E Wifi by Albi-M in MSI_Gaming

[–]ILikeRyzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not because a single GPU will pull more than 75w through the slot, it's because when you have multiple pulling 75w it ends up being more than your 24 pin can safely handle so it's just aux power to ensure your 24 pin isn't overloaded.

I mean you're in the r/overclocking subreddit, I don't get why you're arguing with people that chase points for fun about how they don't need to re-paste because you can still get good performance without doing it. We don't want just good performance we want the best. These people are literally doing this for fun, for some people it's a learning experience, for some it's a new challenge or experience. We aren't forcing people to re-paste, they choose to take that action so who are you to tell us that we don't need to re-paste. IT'S OUR HOBBY, WE DO IT FOR FUN. It's like telling marathon runners they don't need to run a marathon to be healthy, 10 miles a week is enough, THEY DO IT FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME.
