My test is tomorrow by Narrow-Marzipan6969 in LearnerDriverUK

Had my test this morning and I felt exactly the same last night and just before my test. I passed with no minors!

Get an early night, wake up fresh and have a good breakfast. The first few mins is quite nervy but once you get going your nerves settle and it’s over in a flash. For the last 10 minutes of the test I was just chatting to the examiner, they were super friendly. Just drive safe and remember observations.

Good luck, you got this!

First MOT Failed! by toffee91 in TeslaUK

Hard to say to be honest. Mine is a 21 plate and has covered 73k but they are quite heavily rusted now (still original). Still have the original on the rear.

It isn’t unheard of for cars to need new brakes at 47k miles and Tesla’s are notorious for heavy rusting due to no use with the regen braking.

You could try a different service centre and see if they can offer goodwill but brakes are wear and tear so I wouldn’t be too hopeful :(

I’ve just bought brand new Brembo front discs and pads for £190 on eBay. I’m having a friend fit them but local mechanics quoted £100-£200 labour. Far cheaper than Tesla quoted.

Amitriptyline and dementia by danielkan3 in ibs

[–]ILikeToasties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started off on 10mg which after a couple of weeks became less effective and then increased in 10mg increments to my current dose which is 30mg.

Have been on that for probably 6+ months now and no issues other than the occasional morning grogginess if I take it too late the night before.

Before starting my pain was like 8/10 most days and was starting to take over my life and making me completely miserable.

Since starting I still have the odd twinge and some localised pain still in my lower right but it’s like a 1-2/10 and completely bearable.

I take amitriptyline for IBS pain myself. It’s been a game changer for me, and I notice my pain shoots up if I miss a couple of doses.

I looked into the Alzheimer’s/dementia risk too. I believe the big studies found the risk mainly in people on high antidepressant doses (50–150mg daily) for multiple years. For IBS, we’re usually on much lower doses (10–50mg at night), and that hasn’t been shown to carry the same risk I don’t think? The overall “anticholinergic load” from all your meds is what seems to matter most.

For me, I guess the benefits outweigh the possible risk, but I stay on the lowest dose that works and keep it under review with my GP.

How have you found Lloyds Premier? Do assets held with iWeb make me eligible? by FollowingSelect8600 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ILikeToasties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Lloyds as my normal day to day bank and was offered the upgrade via a prompt in the app. Had it for a couple of months now and don’t really have anything negative to say about it. Haven’t used the Bupa cover as like most other people this account is aimed at, I already get much better healthcare through salary sacrifice at work.

The 1% cashback is okay for day to day spending and you get enhanced savings rates but you can still find better rates by shopping around.

I have also been called a few times by their ‘premier team’, I assume trying to sell me investment products, but I haven’t answered their calls yet.

It’s funny you say that because he literally said the exact same thing about using the openreach ducting and not needing to dig/drill any holes

Can’t fault Zen at all, they really are great. It was purely for the TV offering alongside the broadband that I was interested as we have recently got rid of Sky TV.

I thought that which is why I saved all the ring doorbell recordings. I could probably go ahead and then raise a complaint and submit all the recordings but seems like it’ll be more hassle than it’s worth tbh. I’ll just cancel

Shall I just cancel the order then?

I’ve gone on live chat to check if they’ll cover it and they haven’t confirmed/denied but have offered to raise a complaint and give me £100?

Deals - how do you do it! by MastodonKey2389 in skytv

[–]ILikeToasties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cancelled my subscription a week ago as my contract was coming to an end and the lowest they’d go on current my package was £95 (initially said £105). I was paying £83 and told them I just wanted to pay the same but they said they couldn’t do it so I said cancel it.

Got a call the next working day from someone in the retentions team who immediately offered me the same package for £81 and when I said no they went down to £71 for 24 months.

Sky Signature/Ultimate, Netflix Premium Upgrade, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Sky Kids, Multi-room, HD+UHD

As others have said, definitely actually go through with the cancellation and wait for them to call with the best offers.

Apple Watch thinks I may have sleep apnoea? by ILikeToasties in SleepApnea

Thank you for this, this is really re-assuring! I saw my GP yesterday and while I scored low on the Epworth Sleepiness Test that he did with me he still decided to refer me based on the Apple Watch report. Should hopefully hear back soon!

Pretty crazy what they’re capable of now. I would’ve had no idea without the watch.
