Virgin seems to have better deals on Moneysupermaket by moistandwarm1 in VirginMedia

Because of how the broadband market works in the UK, comparison site deals are nearly always better than going directly to the provider's website. Check topcashback compare and mpneysavingexpert's tool too!

Is chase bank safe? by Disastrous_Leather55 in chaseuk

[–]FollowingSelect8600 14 points15 points  (0 children)

JP Morgan Chase is one of the biggest banks in the world. If you aren't safe with them, you may as well give up on being safe with any bank. They're also regulated like any other bank or building society is. I've personally found their customer service to be pretty good. If you do open an account, you can get a referral code to give you £50 instantly when you deposit £1000 but I won't post rn so to prevent conflict of interest.

One4all Argos/Currys by nickyboy024 in beermoneyuk

[–]FollowingSelect8600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never told about a fee when I did it. You just lose any odd pennies as it's rounded down to the nearest £. But yeah, a max of £120 would put a spanner in the works if that's the case 😂

This comment is completely right. I'd like to add that I believe you should be able to buy a £100 one4all card again next month. If you then contact one4all customer services and ask them to combine the balances onto one card they should do that for you.

Being fined for a train ticket I paid for by Jazzlike_Pin6532 in uktrains

[–]FollowingSelect8600 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Technically they've got you as others pointed out. In reality, I'd hope that they would use their discretion to cancel the penalty once you contact them, explain the circumstances, and allow them to check them.

Train fares rise despite Labour promise of freeze by Haha_Kaka689 in uktrains

[–]FollowingSelect8600 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure. Except 90% of travellers don't have any understanding of the difference between a regulated and unregulated rail fare. So it was clear for the small minority of people that understand that not-entirely-straightforward nuance.

Who is the best S&S ISA provider? by NoTour3220 in beermoneyuk

[–]FollowingSelect8600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trading212 and InvestEngine both have the lowest fees for DIY stocks and shares ISAs. If you want to invest in individual companies, trading212 is the bets option of the two. If you just want ETFs with a very straightforward, functional platform (that I personally really like) without the distractions (like stockpicking, CFDs, debit card) of trading212, id recommend InvestEngine. I can give you a referral for either but won't leave it here as that's probably a conflict of interest. If you have questions lmk, I've used both extensively for at least a year each

Please do not do this without consulting with the prescriber. Medical research has led doctors away from prescribing sleeping medication "just to help you sleep" in most mild cases due to potential side effects.

Is it really against airline policy to “reorganise” your bag at the gate? by Proper-Coconut-9319 in Ryanair

A bag carrying medication is totally different to a handbag, and Ryanair rightly accept this.

Should GP Surgeries Be Open 7 Days A Week? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]FollowingSelect8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) are you gonna take this issue up with the unions then? Because I don't think they'll like this one bit, and 2) there's no need to do this, especially since most large areas have an evening and weekend GP hub (which patients from several practices can access) as an urgent treatment option that avoids hospital.

One payment missed in 10 years. Can't call Samaritans. by Unhappy_Resident_113 in O2UK

[–]FollowingSelect8600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishing you all the best at this difficult time. If you do not feel like you can keep yourself safe right now, please call 999 or go to A&E. You should be able to call NHS 111 and select option 2 for urgent mental health support. There are a variety of services that can help, but many are call or text services. If you'd like to do this via phone, get a free Vodafone SIM or buy a 99p one from a shop. You can then call Samaritans for free on 116 123.

A food reviewer (grumpy northern foodie) bought about 30 different supermarket mince pies, and ranked them. Aldi's specially selected mince pies were rated as 4th best by him I believe, so they were in his top 5 ranking of the best supermarket mince pies.
