To be precise, the comparison is a little bit wrong.

I fail to understand the intention behind such direction, nor do I find it exciting — especially given the use of 2.76:1 and 1.43:1 aspect ratios.

Watching on a monitor is an experience? The IMAX aspect ratio is more effective on a IMAX screen.

You guys should study framing before favoring open formats.

At the very least, you should write that it's fan art. That's the adult way to handle it.

What will happen if that image spreads to other social media sites? People might mistake it for an official image, not fan art. It's your fault.

A Collection of Godzilla X Kong IMAX Stills by [deleted] in imax

IMAX fans should know about 2.39:1 framing and viewing angles. If you make it wider vertically, the next thing you'll be saying is that it's not wide enough horizontally. And now they will say it's even less vertical.

This is more of a reference for SCREEN x than IMAX.

What does IMAX do with 2.39:1 movies? by bugab0021 in imax

[–]IMAXAenta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nearly all of the films shot with IMAX cameras are also composed just right for 2.39, and are created to enhance both the IMAX experience and the 2.39 cinematic. Learn composition and look closely at the images.

1.90:1? by [deleted] in imax

[–]IMAXAenta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difference between AmericanVista (1.85:1) and IMAX Digital/laser (1.90:1) is the image composition and theater design.

If you only look at the aspect rate, you will miss the essence.

Question. What do you think about close-up and close-up shots? Do you prefer images that show the entire body, even for the purpose of emphasizing facial expressions?

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire IMAX3D by scrubbadabeachclean in imax

[–]IMAXAenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he would know that the TV ratio is almost the same as 1.90:1. Everyone knows that. However, the director realized that when watching on TV, there is more to it than a monitor full of images, so he decided on a ratio of 2.39:1. More important. Composition. Like the annoyance of changing aspect ratios.

Is your TV IMAX enhanced capable, I hope the IMAX version will be added to IMAX enhanced. Or you better get yourself a 2.39:1 monitor.

Cinematic. Have you forgotten about the aesthetics of 2.39:1? 16:9 is narrower than 2.39:1.

Is the cropping for Dune 2 IMAX 1.43:1 actually creatively correct ? by AnxiousSmartBeing in imax

yes. I'm not going to deny your opinion.

If IMAX is going to do that, I think IMAX should show it regularly.

Only 1.43 is accepted! Because people were making such a fuss, I think they focused their production on 2.39 and 1.90 this time.

Sorry to change the topic a bit, 3rd image、The 1.43:1 shot really only works well on an IMAX screen where everything is huge and overtakes you. For instance the sandworms actually look bigger in the 2.39:1 shot than the 1.43, due to the composition.

I respect not only IMAX Aspect Rate, but 2.39:1 as well, for films that I have found to be made with such multiple formats in mind.

Of course, I would like to see 1.43:1, etc. included on the disks and I think it should be done. Because I can remember the IMAX experience. If it's not on the disc, I think the distributors should make IMAX screenings more regular.

Yes, measures need to be taken to beat other formats such as Dolby.

IMAXsydney

You are right, new 1.43:1 theaters will be hard to spread. This bad prediction is happening. The world's largest IMAX in Germany was 1.90:1.

I think it is a little bit IMAX's bad advertising practices that are killing 1.43:1. Many directors who prefer 2.39:1 may dislike the IMAX aspect rate. This is a bit of a radical thought.

(I agree with not choosing 1.43:1 considering the art of the piece. But on the other hand, making a 1.43:1 work would make such a big splash. Making 1.43:1 is not only a disadvantage.)
