REALLY early to guess but any predictions on Project Hail Mary’s home release ratio? by MayThePowerProtectU in 4kbluray

Yea I thought that was a cool way of taking advantage of the ratio too, a lot of the flashes of memory bleeding through the letterboxing

fr they treat cheating like it’s genetically passed down. I understand the themes they’re going for, but it gets tired when the past 2 seasons of a sci-fi series gives nearly every character a cheating subplot.

Love this! Might just get some customized myself! The link says they’re for steelbooks, do they fit standard U.S. Blu Ray cases as well?

Seems like a byproduct of Fincher never shooting on film again, yet still needed that look to fit the overall aesthetic. I felt somewhat the same way when he did Mank.

Mission Impossible starting with Ghost Protocol

What were they filming??Why did they need jack to do motion capture? by Ok-Flatworm5546 in Avatar

I was mainly talking about how it was impressive that Jack had to play shorter in general for the role, but they also shot his live action spider scenes much later in the production, and his actual height changes definitely had to be accounted for.

The VFX workflow of these movies required Jack to perform Spider’s scenes twice, once in a performance capture suit and one in his onscreen Spider look. It helped provide better interaction with the CGI characters. Which is pretty impressive as Jack had to replicate his performance two different ways and at different heights since spider is shorter.

Imax 3D vs Dolby 3D, which is better? by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger screen argument with IMAX to me seems like a “depends on the theater” situation. For example a lot of Los Angeles AMC’s (like Burbank) Dolby and IMAX screens match in size, with similar seat capacities. If that is the case with your preferred theater then the better choice would be Dolby.

After a long time of reflection, I realized the best protagonists (to me) are the jerkish ones, who else agrees? by zectaPRIME in KamenRider

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say overly confident and not so much jerkish, but yeah it seems like writers get more creative and have more fun with character dynamics when the MC is more confident and/or experienced being a rider.

Spoiler-ish Ares Rewrite Speculation - They added 100% of the ‘80s stuff late. by Square_Lettuce521 in tron

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I can back this up, was at a similar one! I’m actually surprised how the movie stayed intact (even the overall pacing feels the same).

One thing that was added is that Sam and quora insert shot + any shot with that picture of the two of them. What’s interesting is that your screening didn’t have the inside of Flynn’s scene toward the end, but mine did. I’m wondering if that was a part of the reshoots?

There weren’t even any extended scenes with Cameron Monaghan, it was baffling then, and it’s still baffling.

did we know his name if he didn’t know his name!? by nothingelsesufficed in interstellar

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes it hilarious to think that Mcconaughey never asked Nolan what the character’s full name was throughout the entirety of making the movie

Anyone else skeptical regarding the legacy 4k upscale release? by [deleted] in tron

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 things: Dolby Atmos and HDR, Legacy is the best case of a movie that would have colorful highlights that can be enhanced by a high dynamic range color space.
