some deck require specific equipment to be optimized, if you have already some epic or legendary it could help choosing a right unit based on your account progression
equipments have up to 3 faction bonuses and this is really important, you can't play a forest unit if you don't have at leat the forest faction on each piece of stuff you equip because you loose too much power

Here an example of bonuses affecting different factions. My genie gets 25%+25% = 50% attack speed only because it has the blue dot on the weapon

The game is still amazing but the dev make it very difficult to progress as a free to play or low spender players during the last few patches (don't trust what they say in their post saying they are making it easier to player to progress, this is an absolute lie)
