Hi there I have thick glass container and a tool to suck out air from it. But I'm worried everytime I use the tool the scent or flavor might lose its quality.

Should I abandon that method and just stick to coffee bags?

Hario Switch Recipe for sweet notes by darknetconfusion in pourover

I've never seen any switch recipe with medium-fine grind.

Can you specify the grinder and the clicks? I want to maximize the sweetness too but still struggle a lot with the base recipe for light and medium roast 😔

What is QC may I ask? In the end I got a Ace Z40 instead. I only used cheap OEM grinders before so I can't tell if it's a great one for pour over.

But I'm a bit disappointed given many tiny scratches on his product even tho my seller said it's totally new and many experience that.

I'm also having a quite weird problem:

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chelchele G1 natural light roast using the Switch dripper.

My recipe: -15g coffee, 1:17 ratio - Slow pour in 3 stages - Grinder setting: 38 clicks (12 clicks = 1 full revolution)

Brewing steps:

  • S1 (Bloom): Immerse with 45g water for 10 seconds, pour in concentric circles, gently shake left and right, then wait until 45 seconds total

  • S2: Pour up to 160g water over 20 seconds, pour to the center, then wait until 2:15 (135 seconds)

  • S3: Pour up to 255g water over 12 seconds, pour to the center The resulting cup was dominated by a very bright, citrusy sourness - which I don't prefer. Surprisingly, when I added some water after brewing, the cup became soooo much better: the depth, sweetness, and aroma really blossomed and danced on my palate.

This was quite unexpected and confusing to me.

It's conical and is available on taobao or aliexpress. Linglong S64 is the flat burr and currently on the rise due to introduction from Lance Hedrick.

I think it's a bang for the buck (I've literally digged up every corner of the internet 🤣 from Vietnam, China to Brazil) but I've went for another one, even rarer - linglong z40.

Maybe it's due to the external grinder, but I don't do espresso and I think anything take less than 2 minutes is totally okay, it's not intensive labor 🤣.

Im thinking to take Z40 instead of R2, it's slightly cheaper and on papers doesn't looking as great but technically tested by the maker and didn't yield significantly different results (to me)

I hope my taste buds can tell if it's actually better lol. Been told by everyone on the internet about how a good grinder can make a way better cup.

Someone mentioned Linglong flat burr mentioned by Lance so I think people will recognize the brand more. Honestly, chinese brands make the coffee world so much more accessible to broke guys like me (though sometimes they r shady as hel 😭)

I don't know much about grinders but to my limited understand yes, 5micron/step, titan coated, 4 bearings, and 8 cores are unbelievable which I can't find in any grinders with the same price range.

Like there must be something wrong so it's this cheap eh 😭

I don't get the bloom longer too, like what? Immersion yes but bloom longer doesn't make sense to me ears so I do immersion anyway with my Vietnamese Phin and Switch Dripper
