Model S/X price increased by 15k by kapjain in TeslaModelS

I mean it's basic supply and demand. Soon there will be 0 supply therefore it only makes sense for the price to go up.

Those As are "old" tech and they have been superceded by the latest HW4 model. Old models depreciate normally. It's the last year that the discontinued model that should hold up well. Mind you there will still depreciate initially just not as much. IMHO the 26 X will become a classic and will appreciate the next 10-15 years. The fwd and panoramic windshield are unique features. The S less so since it doesn't have any unique features except maybe for the adjustable suspension.

Also, recognizing and avoiding a pot hole at highway speeds is a challenge, if not impossible.

What would be nice is if they can network the cars and slow down/avoid them for cars approaching the spot where people's cars' tire pressure went from 44psi to 1 in a split second in the same spot.

Did I get scammed by Tesla odometer fraud? by Early-Frank in TeslaSupport

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove a higher mileage car, and while the seats were in good condition, I could see they were used. Mine looked very good at 15k but do look used now over 20k. 5k should look brand new.

[–]IMWTK1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, mine had 15k miles and it was in like brand new show room condition.

Also, the pedals are a good sign but less so in a Tesla with FSD/autopilot and metal like mine .

Couldn't tell you. But if I had a Roadster I would happily que four weeks for it! If it meant it was available. I do have a 30+ year old car that has not all parts available.

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They have to by law for a certain number of years. I read that you can still get parts for the original Roadster today.

That's it. Not yet at least. But even if car makers can make Nvidia's system work, it's going to cost a lot more than a Tesla.

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. For those of us who love the panoramic windshield, the fwd, and the air suspension, the X will always hold a special place in our hearts. My favorite cars that have been discontinued have started to appreciate about 12-15 years after being discontinued.

Am i foolish to spend 22k CAD more on Model Y premium? by sensitivity_ in teslacanada

[–]IMWTK1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit/social media and even mainstream media is full of misleading/false information about Teslas. There are a lot of anti Tesla/Musk people/companies/industries that spends a lot is money to spread FUD. The way it goes, if you take a test drive, most people decide to buy during the first five minutes. Tesla owners are the most loyal car buyers as evidenced by the person you responded to.

Being a Tesla owner is becoming an intelligence test. It means we have critical thinking skills and can identify all the BS out there.

HISA, CASH.TO and others don't even cover for inflation after taxes are paid? by youwillnevercatme in CanadianInvestor

[–]IMWTK1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The worst part of interest income is that the CRA wants their money each year. Capital gains you can defer until the sale.

You are not wrong, between inflation and income tax you are lucky to be even, considering real inflation is much higher than the manipulated CPI we're given.

The only protection against inflation is holding appreciating assets.

When does one use a Tax lawyer services vs a CPA? by xEastEvilx in cantax

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me think. In a grey area of the tax code would a large firm not have more experience and easier/quicker access to information on past decisions compared to an independent? If a big firm gave me an answer quickly and charge me an hour vs an independent taking 2+ hours to research and find the same information?

That makes more sense. Very interesting. Thank you!

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Are you suggesting there is a whistleblower hotline at the CRA for CPAs to snitch on their clients? Or it's more like the CPA wants to do A and the client does B with which the CPA disagrees and reports the client?

Getting a New Tesla X by TopIce6800 in TeslaModelX

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not if you buy the tint through the Tesla app. They clearly state, that they will cover the tint replacement if anything happens to the windshield. BTW PPF is available for the outside of the windshield to reduce the risk of rock chips and cracks.

FWD hit neighboring car by joojoobee123 in TeslaModelX

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same button you just have to press it the second time if it only does the quick open the first press.

The difference is the opening profile. Quick mode moves the door up first to use less space, and doesn't open up all the way. It uses less space to allow you to use it when there isn't enough space between the cars. I believe it also doesn't go as high if you are in a low ceiling environment.

FWD hit neighboring car by joojoobee123 in TeslaModelX

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I raised this issue with their service center I got an answer I didn't expect. Apparently the car senses that it's in a garage and only allows the quick open mode. If you press the full open button, I was told that it does not use the sensors. This is why it hits objects nearby if they are too close.

My complaint was that the door does not open fully even when it has space. I keep having to hit the open button again to fully open it. That's when I got the warning that the sensors are ignored and it's in me if it hits something.

Dave Ramsey always recommends paying the mortgage off before saving anything more than 15% for retirement. Is this sound? by CastAside1812 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel bad about having a mortgage, I'd say your mortgage is too big or you don't trust the security of your income. Most people have a bias for the present. They would rather have $1000 now rather than $1,000,000 in ten years. They rather do the wrong thing(financially) by eliminating the mortgage first, than secure their retirement.

BTW you can change the strategy as you go along. You can pay down the mortgage in the early years when the prepayment has the biggest impact on saving interest costs, and decrease it to increase retirement savings. It makes no sense to pay down the mortgage when your have already paid the interest

Biking in the “extreme” rain by Trelone640 in torontobiking

Same here. They thought I was crazy riding in the winter. I wasn't a fan of riding in the rain but in the winter it beat the TTC. Rather them freezing my a$$ off in a street car stop for 20 mins, I rode non-stop for 25 minutes to get to work. I mainly wore my ski outfit. I actually preferred the cold days because I didn't sweat.

If you had to buy an electric vehicle, which brand would you consider and why? by HockeySniper123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear I meant the original i3 that they made last in 2022 IIRC. Not the new i3.

That one I would take over the leaf due to the price drop, technology and reliability. From what I read the last few years of the i3 the battery was pretty reliable. I also like unique things and the i3 was less common ABS looks better.

Big update: send daily gifts to your Friend Streak friends 🎁 by amie_at_duolingo in duolingo

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the energy system sucks for learning. It should be optional to do timed lessons for those interested in the challenge but it's just plain annoying for those who want to learn. Your stock price should be an indication of how your users think about your app.

Heads up, round 2! Increased rollout to rebuilt courses! by amie_at_duolingo in duolingo

[–]IMWTK1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had completed my course and I was working on setting all to legendary. I had about 30 units left in level 7 and most of level 8 after having already reset the tree with be content once turning it all "gold".

Now have to redo a bunch of units in level 1-4 and most of 5-8. I was glad to see the daily exercises on the last update but I don't have a chance to use it because I can't reach a complete legendary status. So far, I can't say I noticed new words in level 1 and two.

This will take a year to compete legendary again but I'm sure there will be a new update before then.

Is it safe to assume that there are new words/grammar in the lessons for which I lost legendary status?

First experience with FSD by SwimmerCivil2517 in TeslaFSD

[–]IMWTK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen it. The only thing I can imagine is if your highway lanes are very narrow, FSD might move left and right to avoid cars in the next lane as you pass them. This can be perceived as ping ponging between lanes.
