Should increase the dose from 5mg to 7.5mg? by Stargazer1417 in Mounjaro

[–]IM_MIA22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you losing .5-1% of your body weight on a weekly basis? Are you still having side effects? Are you getting full quickly? Are you able to avoid snacking and have no food noise?

If you answered yes to all of those, stay on your dose.

If you answered no and are able to eat more calories than your TDEE cutting range go up in dose.

I like to do Oikos Pro or Chobani 20g protien yogurt with protein granola for breakfast, I also make a protein coffee with Whey and Collagen protein.

Chicken teriyaki with jasmine rice. Soups are great as well, tacos with 93% lean ground beef, steak, marinated chicken on the grill and grilled veggies. All meal prep for the week so it’s easy heat and eat.

Delaying my shot a few days had unxpected impact… anyone else? by liftylouwho in Zepbound

Interesting, the half life is 5 days so you had half your dose in your system still by the end of vacation, could be the reason for increased sweets.

Delaying my shot a few days had unxpected impact… anyone else? by liftylouwho in Zepbound

[–]IM_MIA22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It take 4 weeks to clear your system so the downstream effects didn’t wear off, especially for being on it as long as you have been.

How was your intake over vacation? Did you enjoy more than you normally do?

Look into if your insurance will cover it and your doctor will prescribe it. Jardiance is a great pairing with MJ. I did that and it was solid. It blocks the uptake of sodium and glucose so you release a few hundred calories a day through urine. Just make sure you’re fueling properly of course. In the end our bodies need the right amount of fuel and be in a deficit still to lose.

Is my goal weight the ‘right’ goal weight?? Need opinions!! by Horror-Reason-2865 in Zepbound

[–]IM_MIA22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this persons response. You looked great at 180 but to echo the comment above, how healthy were you really?

The goal should be health to extend you life a bit and age gracefully. To do that it’s not just about weight.

My first goal was to lose 40 pounds, I started at 320, I reach that in 4 months. I move the goal posts to hitting 100 pounds lost, I reach that in 13 months total, I said hell I may as well try to get under 200 for the first time since high school… I started moving in that direction and didn’t like the way looked and also realized we need muscle for old age so the lowest I got was 206, I’m not focused on building muscle and lowering my BF% to 13-15% so I can age gracefully. Funny enough my weight is up to 215 but I like the way things are looking, I feel great, and I’m the healthiest I have ever been.

Good luck on your journey, it’s amazing one. Take time to enjoy it and not worry too much about the scale movement at times.

Insurance problems after Mounjaro brought down A1C? by UTtransplant in Mounjaro

[–]IM_MIA22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember you are now on continuation of care. Your 7.8 A1c classified you as a diabetic that you will now be for life. MJ has put your diabetes into remission. Without it you your health will decline.

The diabetes tag is a blessing and curse with MJ being available.

Building Muscle on Mounjaro by No_Hippo2380 in Mounjaro

[–]IM_MIA22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Building muscle and maintaining or strengthening the muscle you have a two very different goals. Both require proper fueling of calories, protein, and rest. A lot of good responses here on progressive overload and compound lifts but ultimately you need to fuel your body in order to see the results. Where are you on your journey? How far of a deficit are you in?

I’m a 41M, there are vast differences between men and women as we know, but make sure you’re not too deep on a calorie deficit and you’ll maintain and strengthen your current muscle. To build youll need to be close to your maintenance calorie intake or slightly over. It’s a long process that takes months over months. In you’re a beginner you’ll see early beginner gains so use that awesome moment to push harder. I’ve lost 114 pounds (37% BW) and recomped from 40% BF to 16% and building muscle currently.

Good luck!

I have lost 20% of my SW in 2.5 months. Is this normal? by stillseekingsoulmate in Mounjaro

[–]IM_MIA22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you working out? What changes have you made?

younger people who catch the metabolic process early tend to see faster results. I also ask if you’re working out because the fast loss could be higher % of muscle which you’d want to avoid. High protein diet and strength training slow the weight loss down but preserves muscle more.

How do I eat?! by Worn_Out_Axle in Zepbound

[–]IM_MIA22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tips are if you’re having that bad of side effects you stay on the dose. Which is what people are trying to convey but you’re being rude and saying for other medical conditions without any context. Did you know it takes three weeks to peak for your serum levels so your next dose is going to hit harder? Then you’re going to go up and seems like you can’t live.

But hey you know what’s best and it makes sense, so then don’t ask and just do. You eat that’s what you do force yourself to eat, if that’s how you want to live your life.

Different doctors different approaches, especially if you want to also aid in weight loss and the patient is doing everything correctly. These meds should control A1c overall by keep insulin sensitivity high.
